Why does the job exist?
 
Child Protective Services Case Workers make decisions regarding the safety of a child or vulnerable adult, whether to forward referrals to local field offices for investigation or refer a family who has been in an abuse/neglect situation to supportive services. They participate in "phone triage" as recipients of reports, operator, or designated runner. Duties include triage of calls, routing calls to, assessing if injuries have occurred, or are imminent to alleged victim(s); document incoming calls and referrals (IandR); provide callers with resource information; taking messages when appropriate; checking voice mail or status and/or call back messages, and communicating with colleagues and supervisors.
 How does it get done?
 
The following describes what the duties for each service area:
 
Maintains knowledge of the New Mexico Children's Code and obtains information necessary to create appropriate case plans to provide safety, permanency, and well-being to children.
 
Assess the safety of and risk to all children of the family who are the subject of a CPS referral as well as assess the family needs and strengths throughout the life of a case.
 
Notify supervisor of any child(ren) placed into emergency custody by law enforcement and/or those requiring placement.
 
Participate in any local Quality Assurance reviews.
 
Participate on agency work groups and/or task forces as assigned.
 
Promote staff development by providing support to co-workers in skill-building and program development.
 
Assist co-workers in the development of improved skills in FACTS.
 
Actively seek ways of improving procedures with Statewide Central Intake, including but not limited to Phone Triage.
 
Mentor and train new workers when they begin working at SCI.
 
Incumbent will serve as the lead worker in a unit of intake workers.
 
Ensure that "ready lights" are on and be available to accept calls, unless otherwise approved by supervisor.
 
Answer call wait light, police line(s), and designated social work line(s) in a prompt manner.
 
Determine if Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) applies.
 
Review intakes to assure quality of reporting.
 
Use the SDM tools to ensure good decision making.
 
Manage workflow, when necessary, i.e., FACTS is down, sick leave, training, and vacancies.
 
Conduct SDM case reviews.
 
Keeps up to date on occupationally specific technological developments; makes effective use of technology to achieve results.
 
All case workers will complete FACTS documentation on providers as per policy and procedure.
 Minimum Qualification
 
Bachelor's degree in social work, education, counseling, psychology, sociology, criminal justice or family studies from an accredited college/university and two (2) years of any combination of experience including working with communities on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, behavioral health, and/or health care. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
 Employment Requirements
 
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.
 Working Conditions
 
Work is performed in an office setting: late hours, weekends, on-call and callback work may be required. Statewide Central Intake Senior Worker (CYFD/PSD #10118863+)

The agency is tasked with the responsibility for regulating legalized gaming at New Mexico's licensed racetracks (racinos) and veteran and fraternal organizations. In addition, the agency is responsible for investigating and enforcing violations of the laws and regulations that prohibit illegal gambling activities in the state and monitoring New Mexico's tribal gaming compacts through the appointment of a state gaming representative.
 
The Gaming Control Board members are state officials whom the Governor appoints with the advice and consent of the New Mexico State Senate.
 
The Board's licensing and certification process is rigorous and designed to ensure that both the citizens of New Mexico as well as guests to our state can enjoy gaming in a fair and honest environment. During the licensing and certification process, the audit and law enforcement staff conduct thorough investigations of a business's background, as well as that of all individuals associated with the business. The results of the investigation are then presented to the Gaming Control Board, which considers the applicant's suitability to conduct gaming operations in New Mexico.
 
While the measures employed during our application, compliance, and enforcement processes are admittedly strenuous, only by qualifying and then carefully regulating the venues and people involved in the gambling industry can we protect the public's interests. We take our regulation of New Mexico's gambling activities very seriously, and violations of the Board's rules or the New Mexico Gaming Control Act can result in severe administrative sanctions and criminal prosecution.

This position performs administrative duties for the Background and Licensing Department of the New Mexico Gaming Control Board (NMGCB) and interacts with the public who come or call the NMGCB.
 How does it get done?
 
The selected applicant for the Senior Administrative Assistant - Front Desk position will:

The Multi-Level Response Supervisor is responsible for supervision of Multi-Level Response Advocates, reviews screened in reports for assignment to Multi-Level Response Advocates. Supervisor will promote staff development and skill building and support advocates in their day-to-day duties. The Multi-Level Response Supervisor plans, monitors, reviews, and coordinates the activities of a team of professional Family Support Advocates engaged in providing child and family well-being services to children and families through the Multi-Level Response System. The Multi-Level Response Supervisor makes determinations regarding the need to redirect cases to investigatory staff and monitors to ensure compliance of all applicable CYFD policies and procedures.
 How does it get done?
 
The Multi-Level Response Supervisor will receive and assign screened in referrals of alleged child neglect that meet the parameters for referral to Multi-Level Response:
 
The supervisor will review and assign all reports received meeting the parameters for Multi-Level response.
 
The supervisor will conduct a follow up staffing with the Family Support Advocate upon return from the family assessment to discuss the risk/safety and needs within the family. Supervisor will provide feedback regarding the quality of the needs assessment report.
 
Review the workers' work product to ensure quality services and accurate and appropriate decision making.
 
Supervisor will ensure case notes are kept up to date in electronic case management system.
 
Supervisor will utilize appropriate judgment in the screening process per CYFD policy and Structured Decision Making Tool (SOM) procedure; and will uphold professional standards.

Assignment as a Probation Parole Officer at NMCD must adhere to the following:
 
<ul>
<li>At the time of their appointment, be citizens of the United States.</li>
<li>At the time of their appointment, have reached the age of majority.</li>
<li>Be of good moral character and not have been convicted of a felony or any crime of moral turpitude in the courts of this or any other state or in the federal courts.</li>
<li>Subject to a drug test as a condition of employment and on-going random drug testing as a condition of assignment to a safety sensitive position.</li>
<li>Successful completion of the New Mexico Department Of Corrections Basic Probation and Parole Officers Certification Training within twelve months of hire and annual re-certification.</li>
<li>Maintenance of skills in self-defense, handcuffing, baton, and chemical agents and annual re-certification.</li>
</ul>
Working Conditions
 
Work is performed in an adult prison environment, and field setting which includes daily contact with and supervision of adult offenders and or inmates. May be required to work odd hours, overtime, holidays, and weekends.

Due to the available budget allocated for this position, the hiring rate will not exceed $30.26 per hour.

Minimum Qualification
 
High School Diploma or equivalency and two (2) years of experience in a correctional setting, law enforcement and/or military experience.
 Employment Requirements
 
This position is safety sensitive. Employment is subject to a pre-employment and random drug testing in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state rules and regulations regarding alcohol and/or drug testing. In addition, candidates must pass pre-employment Academy screening. For all custody positions, successful completion of the New Mexico Corrections Academy is required. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver¿s License. The applicant must be a U.S. citizen, must be at least 18 years old, have at least a high school education or its equivalent, be of good moral character, have not been convicted of a felony in the courts of this or any state or in the federal courts, and successfully pass any physical and aptitude examination the department may require. Employment is subject to a pre-employment background investigation and is conditional pending results.
