đ Final Inspection & Testing
â˘Perform detailed final visual inspection of castings for surface defects including cracks, blowholes, porosity, cold shuts, shrinkage, etc.
â˘Verify dimensional tolerances using calibrated instruments (e.g., vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, templates, and CMM if applicable).
â˘Cross-check against customer drawings, 3D models, and technical specification sheets.
â˘Conduct mechanical testing verification (e.g., hardness checks using Brinell/Rockwell testers).
â˘Carry out non-destructive testing (NDT) if trained and qualified â such as MPI, LPI, or UT â and interpret results accurately.
â˘Confirm that all machining, fettling, and coating processes have been completed to specification.
đď¸ Documentation & Quality Records
â˘Complete final inspection reports, release notes, and NCR (Non-Conformance Reports) with root cause indications.
â˘Maintain traceability through batch records, material heat numbers, and inspection status tagging.
â˘Review and verify compliance of product-related documents such as MTCs (Material Test Certificates), dimensional inspection reports, and final QC checklists.
â˘Ensure proper documentation is maintained for ISO 9001 or customer audits.
đ¤ Coordination & Quality Assurance
â˘Collaborate with production, machining, fettling, and dispatch teams to ensure proper product flow and segregation of non-conforming items.
â˘Coordinate with QA/QC Engineers to review corrective actions for repetitive quality issues.
â˘Support internal and external audits, and facilitate third-party inspection visits.
â˘Assist in first article inspections (FAI), pre-dispatch inspections (PDI), and sample approvals.
đ§ Compliance & Continuous Improvement
â˘Ensure finished goods conform to internal quality standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements (ASTM, ISO, EN, DIN, etc.).
â˘Participate in RCA (Root Cause Analysis) and CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) initiatives.
â˘Promote a culture of quality awareness and 5S practices within the finishing and dispatch area.
â˘Report recurring inspection failures and suggest improvements in process or operator training.
đ Qualifications & Requirements:
â˘Diploma or B.Tech in Mechanical/Metallurgy/Production Engineering or equivalent technical field.
â˘Minimum 2â5 years of experience in final product quality inspection in steel foundry, iron casting, or precision machining industry.
â˘Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, and casting specifications.
â˘Skilled in using conventional and digital measuring instruments.
â˘Knowledge of casting defects and root cause classification.
â˘Certification in NDT Level II (MPI, UT, LPT) is an advantage.
â˘Familiarity with quality management systems (ISO 9001, ISO/TS 16949) and ERP-based inspection workflows.
