Job Description

ROLE PURPOSE:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quantity Surveyor (QS) to manage all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that construction projects are completed within budget while meeting quality standards and adhering to project timelines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Preparation and issuance of contractual correspondence to Clients and Subcontractors in line with project requirements.
  • Preparation, submission, and agreement of interim payment applications/valuations in accordance with contract terms and project progress.
  • Compilation and submission of variation claims and extension of time (EOT) claims, in coordination with the Contracts Manager.
  • Negotiation, agreement, and execution of variation orders with Clients, and maintenance of the project variation register.
  • Preparation of quantity take-offs as per IFC (Issued for Construction) drawings and project specifications, and comparison with BOQ quantities.
  • Verification that all scope items are quantified accurately to support material requisitions and ensure alignment with Site Engineer requests.
  • Preparation and coordination of monthly interim valuations, including discussions with consultants/clients to secure approvals and payments.
  • Monitoring and following up on the status of submitted payments with consultant Quantity Surveyors.
  • Evaluation and verification of subcontractor invoices against their agreements, project drawings, quantity take-offs, and confirmed quantities with Site Engineers.
  • Preparation and endorsement of subcontractor and supplier payment certificates for submission to the Accounting Department.
  • Assignment of cost codes to material requisitions to ensure proper budget tracking and reporting.
  • Perform other duties or responsibilities as assigned by management in line with the role.
  • Participation in internal or external project audits.
  • Attendance at site meetings, client coordination sessions, and commercial reviews.
  • Assistance in project tendering and cost estimation processes when required.

QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in quantity surveying, preferably within the construction.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or other drawing and quantity take-off software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and other QS-related tools.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within project teams.
