Semester course; 1 lecture and 6 studio hours. 4 credits. This course is designed to explore, identify and develop models that allow students to shape their visual mode of expression. Through a series of projects, students will investigate different physical and digital tools to produce image-based solutions. The projects will explore language as a system and a mode of expression and introduce the student to the vast number of typefaces and ways to critically evaluate them and develop a process of formal, historical, and semantic considerations in selecting typefaces. These projects will encourage different experiences in creative problem-solving methodologies and idea-generating processes; all the while working with technology to bring the projects to a visually completed form. This class does not intend to give the student a complete set of answers to all design problems, rather it will introduce the numerous considerations that a designer can approach when dealing with form and how it relates to image and typography. It will be the student's job to demonstrate their ability to organise and relate a diverse set of explorations &amp; experimentations in a visually meaningful way.</p><br>

  The Role Holder&rsquo;s Core Duties Will Include

   Conducting research, writing, and performing post-test analysis of ELT formative and summative assessment content.
  </li>
  <li>
   Proactively identifying and implementing efficiency improvements within own area of responsibility.
  </li>
  <li>
   Coordinating with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, including QAF TI students, Chief/Senior Instructors, Training Managers, Contract and Assurance teams, IT support, and awarding organisations (as required).
  </li>
  <li>
   Managing the Foundation Stage assessment process (inc. English language training, maths, physics and IT), which includes gathering necessary information from teaching/instructional staff to ensure timely and accurate student examination entries, and handling amendments or withdrawals as needed.
  </li>
  <li>
   Overseeing the preparation process for Foundation Stage (inc. English language training, maths, science and IT), which involves preparing examination timetables for students and staff, creating seating plans for examination rooms, briefing candidates and staff, notifying relevant departments, and securely receiving, checking, and storing confidential examination materials.
  </li>
  <li>
   Supervising Foundation Stage examination and assessment days in accordance with awarding body regulations and internal protocols (where applicable). This includes ensuring all necessary preparations are made, invigilating exams, addressing any issues that arise during or after the assessments, and documenting the process appropriately.
  </li>
  <li>
   Organising the end-to-end placement testing process to ensure that students are correctly assessed and placed within the Foundation pathway.
  </li>
  <li>
   Managing the results process for Foundation examinations and assessments, including accessing results electronically, downloading them from awarding body secure sites, and preparing results for dissemination to students via the relevant Chief Instructor.
  </li>
  <li>
   Staying informed of any changes to examinations by the Awarding Body and assisting the Quality, Exams, and Assurance Leads in updating related policies as part of the change management process.
  </li>
  <li>
   Aligning weekly and mid-course assessment content with instructional goals and learning design.
  </li>
  <li>
   Collaborating with the Exams and Assessment Lead to evaluate activity data and iteratively improve assessment content and design.
  </li>
  <li>
   Handling requests and administering post-results services for the Qatar Armed Forces (QAF) and Senior Management Team (SMT).

  Key Accountabilities Include

   Production of English Language Training assessments.
  </li>
  <li>
   Managing the end-to-end examination and assessment process for the Foundation Stage.
  </li>
  <li>
   Analysing examination and assessment results and reporting findings to the management team.
  </li>
  <li>
   Reporting to the relevant Training Manager, through the Contract and Assurance Manager, for the delivery of Foundation Stage examinations and placement results.
  </li>
  <li>
   Recording examination results and issuing certificates to successful candidates.

  Requirements

 </strong>
 <ul>
  <li>
   Formal qualification in Language Testing or relevant experience.
  </li>
  <li>
   Detailed knowledge of Language Testing (pre/post-test production).
  </li>
  <li>
   Holds qualified teacher status/has relevant education and training qualification e.g. CELTA, TESOL, PGCE, and MA, BA in ELT/TESOL/Education.
  </li>
  <li>
   Experience of English curriculum and material development.
  </li>
  <li>
   Relevant experience teaching English to international students in a range of contexts, especially in the Middle East desirable but not essential.
  </li>
  <li>
   Experience dealing with exams/assessment and invigilation.
  </li>
  <li>
   Experience working with a Learning Management System (LMS).
  </li>
  <li>
   Proficient in the use of Office 365 or Microsoft Office products.
  </li>
  <li>
   Excellent communication skills with a friendly and helpful personality.
  </li>
  <li>
   Excellent organisation skills with the ability to effectively manage and prioritise own workload.
  </li>
  <li>
   Experience of IELTS teaching and examinations.
