A Steel Fixer, also known as a rebar worker or ironworker, positions and secures steel reinforcing bars (rebar) and steel mesh within concrete forms to reinforce concrete structures, requiring knowledge of construction techniques, attention to detail, and the ability to read blueprints.

Key Responsibilities:
Setting out the work area:
Following engineering plans and blueprints to accurately position rebar and mesh within concrete forms.
Cutting and bending rebar:
Using hand and power tools to cut and bend rebar to the required shapes and lengths.
Tying rebar:
Securely tying rebar to create cages and other reinforcement structures.
Fitting spacers and supports:
Using spacers and chairs (supports) to maintain the correct spacing and position of rebar within the concrete forms.
