We currently have an opening for a Web Content Coordinator
The position is designated Statutory Exempt and is exempt from the State Human Resources Act
This position may be eligible for hybrid remote work in accordance with state policy and the agency’s remote work program but does require weekly onsite work
The Web Content Coordinator ensures that NCDIT’s external and internal web presence is timely, accurate, consistent and complies with state standards on digital accessibility, usability and readability. The coordinator works closely with content owners across divisions to produce user-friendly web content and to keep information current, while also collaborating with the NCDIT Digital Solutions team for technical troubleshooting and strategic enhancements.
The ideal candidate will be able to think critically and synthesize complex information to ensure it is understood by a variety of audiences. They will also have strong content management system (CMS) experience, familiarity with SEO and digital accessibility standards, a keen eye for detail and a service-oriented mindset for supporting internal teams and agency partners.
Duties include, but are not limited, to:
- Writing and editing content, in accordance with AP Style, for tone, clarity and readability
- Maintaining up-to-date website content
- Using analytics to help drive content and design decisions
- Enforcing visual and editorial standards
- Ensuring compliance with state and federal digital accessibility standards and requirements
About the Division
Through a proactive, integrated communications strategy, the office elevates the visibility of NCDIT’s statewide initiatives, including broadband expansion, cybersecurity, digital equity, and enterprise IT services. It partners closely with leadership, subject matter experts, and interagency teams to ensure timely and accurate dissemination of information to diverse audiences, including state employees, government leaders, the media, the public, and external partners.
Key functions of the Communication Office include:
- Media and Public Relations: Coordinating press releases, media responses, and interviews to maintain public trust and transparency.
- Digital Communications: Managing web content, social media, and digital campaigns that promote NCDIT programs and services.
- Internal Communications: Supporting organizational cohesion through clear and consistent messaging to internal teams.
- Brand and Content Management: Upholding NCDIT’s visual and messaging standards across platforms and materials.

Strategic Messaging and Executive Support: Drafting speeches, presentations, and communications on behalf of agency leadership.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:
- Demonstrated experience creating, organizing and/or maintaining web content that is understood by a variety of audiences
- Demonstrated experience using content management systems
- Demonstrated understanding of website best practices and digital accessibility standards
- Demonstrated experience using Google Analytics to monitor website performance and to identify opportunities for improvement
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, public affairs, journalism, English, or related field from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

HYBRID/FLEXIBLE WORK SCHEDULES:
At NCDIT, we are dedicated to fostering a collaborative and flexible work environment, offering a hybrid remote work option for positions that are conducive to remote flexibility. If you do not currently reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the assigned duty station, new hires are granted up to 120 days from their start date to relocate.
