Job Description

1. Role Purpose:

Jobholders at this level are shift-based and responsible for operating a combiner machine. They are expected to closely monitor system performance and, under supervision, recalibrate and reset system parameters to improve efficiency and reduce waste. The role involves basic troubleshooting of the combiner machine and providing work direction to lower-level operators as part of on-the-job training.

2. Key Accountabilities:Equipment Operation:

Responsible for the operational control of the combiner machine within an assigned plant area, ensuring continuous and efficient operations in accordance with standard operating and safety procedures to meet production line targets.

System Performance:

Monitors system performance and adjusts calibrations and settings under the supervision of the Combiner Supervisor to ensure unit synchronization, efficient throughput, and minimal downtime.

Troubleshooting:

Identifies and resolves routine issues during production by recalibrating settings. Escalates serious malfunctions to the Combiner Supervisor to reduce production downtime.

Reporting & Documentation:

Maintains operating logs to confirm operations remain within standard limits and reports any irregularities to the Combiner Supervisor for guidance and resolution.

Raw Materials:

Monitors the availability of mother rolls against the production plan and reports to the supervisor to avoid production delays due to shortages.

Maintenance:

Reports any equipment malfunctions and performs basic maintenance tasks to optimize machine performance and extend equipment life and value.

Safety & Housekeeping:

Maintains cleanliness in the work area and ensures all work activities are conducted in compliance with approved occupational health and safety procedures.

Appearance and Image:

Maintains a professional appearance, takes pride in wearing the company uniform, and adheres to personal hygiene and conduct standards that reflect the company image.

3. Occupational Health, Safety & Environment:

  • Follow HSE policies and procedures, meet SCD safety expectations, and wear required PPE.
  • Take responsibility for personal health and safety, as well as for colleagues affected by work activities.
  • Proactively communicate any unsafe practices or hazardous conditions.

4. Communication & Key Stakeholders:Internal:

  • Regular communication with supervisors to report on work activities.

External:

  • Not applicable.

5. Decision Making:

  • Makes recommendations and suggestions on operating parameters to supervisors.

6. Qualifications, Experience, and Knowledge:

  • High School certificate or Industrial School graduate
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in paper mill operations
  • Basic level of English proficiency
  • Willingness to learn and grow in the role
  • Strong understanding of equipment and production processes in the assigned area
  • Solid knowledge of standard operating and safety procedures
  • Basic troubleshooting abilities
  • Capable of working collaboratively in a team environment and taking initiative
