<b>SUMMARY</b><b>:</b> Assist students in Specialized Programs by providing specialized individualized instruction; including academic support, monitoring behaviors, and functional life skills in a Title I designated school. Assist student in maintaining personal health and hygiene functions; assist students to and from classes and bus stops.<br>
<br>
<b>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</b><b>: </b><i>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Provide support in general education setting in order for students to fully participate in class activities. Assist students in Specialized Programs by tutoring, adapting work and monitoring and enforcing social and acceptable behavior. May assist with administering testing or assessments, may assist with homework. Assist instructor with related paperwork. Implement specialized therapy programs; work directly with therapists on physical progress and Individualized Education Plans (IEP).</div><ul><li>
Assist special needs students in performing daily routines, including getting to and from class and bus stops, using toilets, diapering, feeding, medical needs and personal hygiene, including working with trach, feeding tubes, and catherization. Support behavior plan implementation. Utilize CPI (Non Violent Crisis Intervention) techniques and safety monitoring.</li><li>
Sanitize, disinfect, and clean learning environment and general work area of all bodily fluids.</li><li>
Facilitates and encourages speech and language development through the use of alternate communication systems such as sign language or voice activated computer systems.</li><li>

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:</b></div><ul><li>
High school diploma or equivalent.</li><li>
Must be a minimum of 18 years old.</li><li>
Must meet one of the following requirements, which are:<ul><li>
AA or (2) year college degree, OR</li><li>
Passing of state CDE approved paraprofessional examination, OR</li><li>
Complete Personal Commitment Plan to meet requirements within a defined timeline</li></ul></li><li>
Willing to work with students receiving special education services (training opportunities provided).</li></ul><div></div><div><b><br>
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS</b><b>:</b></div><ul><li>
Criminal background check required for hire.</li><li>
Ability to successfully complete a pre-hire, post-offer physical examination.</li><li>
CPR and First Aid certifications required within (3) months after entering position.</li><li>
Universal Precautions training required within (3) months after entering position.</li><li>

SALARY INFORMATION:<br>
All Classified positions are paid on an hourly basis. All Newly hired classified employees are placed initially on Step 1 of the pay grade for their position. Classified employees can advance an additional 7 steps (maximum Step 8) based on their previous experience. Final hourly placement on the Classified Salary schedule is dependent on the Grade Level for the position being posted and employees' previous work experience. &quot;Grade&quot; refers to position or job classification and &quot;Step&quot; refers to the number of work experience credit or service years. Job Tasks Descriptions<br>
1. Assists students with classroom activities. Implements teacher's instruction plan. Performs tutoring, both individually and with small groups to ensure mastering of subjects. Supervise in-person students during periods of remote learning, when the teacher may also be remote. Responsibilities include implementation of ageappropriate educational activities; provide direction and guidance to students; effectively handle student discipline; ensure student safety and security; communicate with parents, staff, and teachers; clean classroom areas; record attendance; and support students as they move through their daily remote learning schedule.<br>
2. Assists teachers in preparing materials, administering tests, grading, attendance, etc. Assists with paperwork and documentation as needed.<br>
3. Monitors students during breaks, recess, time outs, on field trips, etc.<br>
4. Assists with special projects. May administer first aide and/or assist students to clinic or nurse.<br>
5. Perform other job-related duties as assigned including lunchroom/playground duty.<br>

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:<br>
<ul><li> High School Diploma or equivalent.</li><li> Must meet one of the following requirements, which are:</li><li> AA or 2 year college degree, OR</li><li> Passing of state CDE approved paraprofessional examination, OR</li><li> Complete Personal Commitment Plan to meet requirements within a defined timeline</li><li> No experience required.</li><li> Experience in working with school age children preferred.</li><li> If working in the Dual Language Program, must be proficient in Spanish.</li><li> If working in the English as a Second Language (ESL) area, must successfully complete the District administered ESL Training Program (approximately 15 hours) within 3 months of entering position.</li></ul><br>
