As a Security Officer at Banner Behavioral Health, you will respond to emergency situations, help to provide safety and security for patients and visitors, you will patrol service areas including the grounds, and provide alarm monitoring and response. Our team works 3 12-hour shifts (for both days and nights) and a half day. This position works the day shift Sunday-Tuesday 6:00am-6:00PM and Wednesday 6:00AM to 12:00PM.
Successful candidates must be physically fit and able to maintain sufficient physical fitness to successfully pass the functional capacity evaluation (FCE), which includes completing 44 steps and 20 down ups in under 2 minutes.

POSITION SUMMARY 
This position patrols the facilities and grounds; assists with the welfare and safety of personnel and patients; investigates critical incidents; assists employees, patients and visitors; interfaces with emergency response agencies; secures doors; monitors parking and traffic control. Performs assigned security duties promptly and accurately. Works varied assignments and shifts. 
 
CORE FUNCTIONS 
1. Exhibits excellent interpersonal skills and be customer service oriented in all contacts with patients, visitors and staff. 
 
2. Responds to all emergency codes for assistance and control. Patrols and inspects facility frequently to assist in maintaining a safer and more secure environment. Assists employees with security related matters, mediate disputes, conduct interviews, conduct searches, enforces parking regulations and traffic control. Serves as a security subject matter expert. 
 
3. Assists medical staff in restraining and handling troubled/combative patients. Ensures security policies are being followed. Patrols unoccupied areas and sets the alarms when appropriate. Locks and unlocks facility doors at prescribed times. Conducts money pick-ups from departments, logs pick-ups and successfully delivers the contents to the appropriate destination department. Releases bodies from the morgue, ensuring that all paperwork is complete. Checks alarms to ensure they are in proper working order. Escorts patients, visitors and employees when required for security purposes. Participates in security lead training designed for staff. 
 
4. Maintains current knowledge of applicable laws and regulations. Performs &ldquo;citizen arrest&rdquo; and demonstrate critical thinking skills during extremely stressful situations as needed. 
 
5. Appropriately and effectively utilizes assigned non-lethal weapon according to policy and training. 
 
6. Investigates and completes written reports of complaints, critical security incidents and unusual activities involving patients, employees and visitors. Maintains an accurate log of all relevant security activities during each shift. 
 
7. Professionally testifies in criminal court, state hearings and review boards when required. 
 
8. Based on area of assignment may assist in the maintenance and preservation of confidential health documents including scanning into electronic patient health information systems. 
 
9. Position reports directly to the Security Supervisor, or OIC in their absence. This position interacts internally with staff, physicians, visitors, volunteers and patients. External customers are law enforcement agencies and emergency service agencies. The position is system wide and officers may be assigned to work at any facility as needed. This position will provide guidance and direction to staff, visitors and patients during a security emergency. This position will be required to proactively identify, deter and respond to security incidents. 
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 
Must maintain required security certifications. Must possess a valid driver&rsquo;s license and be eligible for coverage under the company auto insurance policy. 
 
Must possess the ability to make accurate observations and exercise good independent judgment in a variety of situations (including emergencies). Must demonstrate the ability to write comprehensive security reports. Must successfully complete all required security departmental training, including department specific annual training and mandatory training as assigned. Must successfully complete Banner Health Basic Officer Academy. Must present a professional appearance and demeanor at all times and must possess strong verbal communications skills. Must qualify and maintain proficiency with assigned non-lethal weapons. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform physical requirements of the position. Capabilities will be demonstrated through the successful completion of similarly related skills testing. Employees hired on or after January 1, 2019 will need to successfully demonstrate the physical requirements before starting in the role. The newly remodeled 2B Intensive Care Unit is comprised of 12 beds at Banner Estrella Medical Center (BEMC) caring for the highest acuity patients in the facility. BEMC is a Level 4 Trauma Center servicing Southwest Phoenix and surrounding areas. As an RN for 2B ICU you will be primarily caring for Cardiovascular patients including post Open-Heart Surgery, OR, Cath lab, and IR. In addition, Acute Neurological/Stroke, Medical/Renal, and Pulmonary patients census permitting. Nurses on this unit are given additional training to be able to care for patients on ventilators, vasoactive drips, CRRT, Targeted Temperature Management, IABP, and Impella.

POSITION SUMMARY

Banner Desert Medical Center/Banner Children's at Desert Main Surgery Department has 24 Operating Rooms, which includes 3 trauma rooms, 6 pediatric rooms, 1 cysto suite, 4 minimally invasive and 3 robotic rooms. BDMC/CCMC offers a full range of surgical specialties, including Peds Cardiovascular and Adult and Peds Trauma, Urology, Orthopedics, General, Gynecology, Neurology, EENT, Plastics and Robotics. We are the busiest OR in the valley, fast paced, and performing high acuity cases. In 2017, BDMC/CCMC Main Surgery Department performed over 21,000 surgeries. Adult cardiovascular, Labor &amp; Delivery and Endoscopy Services are covered by separate departments. Our technologies includes TAVR, Volcano IVUS in the hybrid room. Si and Xi da Vinci robots. POSITION SUMMARY 
This position provides support to the surgical team by providing basic patient care and assistance as directed. Promotes patient safety by assuring safe functioning of OR specialty equipment during procedures and ensuring appropriate supplies are available. 
 
CORE FUNCTIONS 
1. Serves as a resource person in designated surgical specialty to ensure coordination of necessary instruments and equipment. 
 
2. Maintains unit equipment. This includes, but is not limited to: setting up; cleaning; performing basic troubleshooting of equipment; performing safety checks on equipment and specialty carts as directed, calibrates and replaces soda lime. Monitors equipment for malfunctions, performs light maintenance or arranges for repairs. May complete room setup, assemble equipment, and maintain anesthesia specialty carts. 
 
3. Tracks and monitors availability of equipment and instruments for procedures in collaboration with the members of the OR Team. 
 
4. Maintains adequate inventory of anesthesia and surgical supplies both in the OR and anesthesia work areas. 
 
5. Assists with pulling supplies for cases, rotating inventory, and monitoring expiration dates. 
 
6. Under the direction of the RN circulator, assists with basic patient care as requested. Practices aseptic technique per competency.

POSITION SUMMARY 
This position is responsible for performing secretarial, reception, medical assisting and initial patient needs assessment functions. Provides outstanding customer service and ensures a smooth patient flow process by providing services in admissions, financial counseling, billing, scheduling patients, paperwork completion, explanation of procedures, making of appointments, and conducts registration. Explains and obtains signatures on forms such as registration, medical history, Conditions of Admission, Financial Agreement, Advance Directive, and Hospital Grievance policy. Receives referrals from physicians, obtains authorizations and calls insurance plans for verifications. At time of service is able to receipt cash and record accurately as well as enter charges and perform charge reconciliation. Also assists clinicians in providing medical care and in office testing as well as implementing and evaluating direct patient care. Utilizes special knowledge, judgment and skills necessary to provide appropriate patient care. 
 
CORE FUNCTIONS 
1. Performs registration processes, verifies insurance coverage and obtains authorization notification. Accurately documents information and performs data-entry to ensure maximum reimbursement. Obtains necessary signatures specific to patients' insurance plan. Calculates patient liability according to verification of insurance benefits. Collects deposits and co-payments. Provides financial counseling for patients and their families by explaining financial policies and providing available resources for alternative payment arrangements. Assists patients and their families with completing financial documents when appropriate. 
 
2. Serves as a liaison between the patient, billing department, and payor to enhance account receivables, resolve outstanding issues and/or patient concerns. Enters charges for services delivered and does daily charge reconciliation in a timely and accurate manner. Balances cash drawer at the beginning and end of the day and prepares daily bank deposit with necessary paperwork faxed to PBO. Adheres to all billing procedures including preparation of Medicare billing at the end of the month within specific timelines. 
 
3. Responsible for scheduling of patients, families, procedures, and physician appointments. Assists in scheduling routine appointments within the medical practice(s) and external practices as necessary. Assists in obtaining pre-certification, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions refills and other medical testing as necessary. Responsible for communicating test results to patient. Acts as a resource to clinician in order to provide optimal patient care. 
 
4. Optimizes patient flow by using effective customer service communication skills utilizing kindness, tact and courtesy to ensure positive patient response to service. Demonstrates proactive interpersonal communications skills when relating to internal and external customers. Uses discretion and is attentive to issues of customer confidentiality. Demonstrates skills in pro-active resolution and attempts to resolve scheduling conflicts. 
 
5. Provides support to include, answering the phones, returning phone messages, pick-up/prioritizing/distributing mail, completing purchase requests, ordering supplies/forms, coordinating/scheduling meetings, maintaining and re-stocking exam rooms and lobby. Monitors inventory including medication/injectables and immunizations, i.e., expired medications, recalls and patient tracking. Responsible for the medical records for the assigned area. Ensures medical records are pulled and ready daily. Initiates obtaining needed records from hospitals, practices, and other ancillary departments. Follows guidelines and assists in developing procedures to ensure that medical records are in compliance with all state and federal laws. 
 
6. Prepares patient for exam and treatment by taking and recording vitals signs, symptoms, medication list, symptoms and other necessary measurements and recording chief complaint. Reports condition of patient which may be indicative of changes of the patient&rsquo;s condition to the clinician. Assists providers with exams and minor office procedures and acts as a chaperon if needed. 
 
7. Performs office-based testing and treatments related to patient care under supervision of a clinician. Performs and records daily/monthly quality control on all office based testing and treatment. Maintains a log book of results and lot numbers. Collects and prepares specimens for laboratory testing including phlebotomy. Uses universal blood and body fluid precautions at all times and personal protective equipment as needed. 
 
8. Maintains a clean, functional environment including cleaning and disinfection of equipment, exam rooms and storage areas. Disinfects equipment and instruments using appropriate solutions following sterilization procedures through Materials Management. Follow&rsquo;s manufacturer&rsquo;s recommendations and OSHA guidelines of handling hazardous substances. Performs and records daily/monthly quality control on all equipment. 
 
9. This position works under the direct supervision of the providers, following established procedures. Uses established knowledge and problem-solving skills with to work independently in a fast paced, multi-task environment. Responsibility for ensuring efficient coordination of billing processes, financial counseling, client scheduling, maintaining and handling of documentation, and patient flow. Interacts with all levels of staff internal and external, including patients and their families, physician offices, third party payors, vendors, clinical staff, ancillary staff, therapist, nurses and case managers. Also interacts with physician in order to report and ask for or clarify information. Prioritizes data from multiple sources to provide support for the response of the patient and family in changes in health status. Primary responsibility is to main department assigned, however cross-over and assistance to other departments is required.

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for prioritization of patient flow through clinical process. 
 
3. Coordinates and manages patient care including pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions and scheduling of patients for clinic, hospital and other ancillary medical treatments and tests. Responsible for communicating test results to patient. Acts as a resource to clinician in order to provide optimal patient care. May administer medications in accordance with established policies and procedures or as directed.

Provides clerical support with patient/client notifications and documentation to include but not limited to complete medical records including labs, authorizations, X-Rays, hospital records and any previous care pertaining to each patient visit. Provides complete and accurate information necessary for billing related to the patient encounter in a timely fashion. 
 
5. Maintains a clean, functional environment including cleaning and disinfection of equipment, exam rooms and storage areas. Disinfects equipment and instruments using appropriate solutions following sterilization procedures. Follows manufacturer's recommendations and OSHA guidelines in handling of hazardous substances. Performs basic maintenance of equipment and coordinates needed maintenance for prompt repairs. 
 
6. Orders supplies as directed, stocks patient care areas. Medication ordering and tasks related to all medications (e.g. expired medications/equipment and recalls). 
 
7. Develops and maintains effective communication mechanism with all external and internal customers. Exemplifies service orientation and the team concept in all contacts. 
 
8. This position will complete all necessary on-boarding/orientation activities, including simulation training, as needed or directed.
