General Summary:
The Hematologist-Oncologist is responsible for providing care and medical oversight of patients with malignant diseases and hematologic disorders. The Hematologist-Oncologist uses interpersonal skills to collaborate with other medical staff to assure quality services are provided and represents Bayhealth Oncology Service Line to medical staff and the community. The Hematologist-Oncologist provides oncology services using substantiated guidelines in a timely manner. 
 
Responsibilities:
1. Provides oncology services using evidence based and substantiated guidelines in a timely manner. Completes all related documentation following Bayhealth policy.
 
2. Meets with newly diagnosed cancer patient or benign hematology patient to collaborate on treatment process. Educates the patient and family regarding the disease process, diagnostic procedure, tests, labs, and goals of the treatment regimens. Identifies realistic goals and potential outcomes for the patient. Communicates treatment plan with team members (Nurse Practitioner, RN Chemotherapy, RN Navigator) and oversees treatment plan delivery.
 
3. Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team (surgery, radiation oncology, radiology, and pathology) on patient&rsquo;s plan of care. Advocates for best practice, guidelines-driven patient care in multidisciplinary conference settings. Communicates patient&rsquo;s plan of care to appropriate team members (i.e. Primary Care).
 
4. Collects relevant patient healthcare data, analyzes data in determining patient needs. Adheres to Bayhealth policy for completion of related documentation, selection of appropriate diagnosis code and accurate charge capture.
 
5. Participates in Bayhealth&rsquo;s Clinical Research Program to recommend potential clinical research studies for enrollment on-site or refer to appropriate tertiary setting.
 
6. Communicates with Oncology Administration related to established workflows within the department to improve performance. Actively participates in the development of the Oncology Service Line strategic plan and promotes the strategic plan&rsquo;s vision and goals to the community.
 
7. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities. 
 
 
Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:

General Summary:
The Collegiate Nursing Care Technician (CCT) position at Bayhealth is designed for student nurses in a nursing program who have successfully completed at least one semester of a medical/surgical clinical rotation. The position is year-round and offers exposure and experience in an acute care setting, preparing candidates for a career as a professional nurse. The CCT position is similar to the certified nurse assistant with duties including basic patient care, vital signs, blood glucose testing, hygiene, assistance with ADL&rsquo;s and comfort measures, working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Department team members are authorized to have limited access to secured medication rooms to perform duties and responsibilities as defined in this job description. Any staff member requiring limited access to secured medication rooms must have a fully completed and signed Medication Security Agreement for Non-Licensed Personnel form on file and available upon request. 
 
Responsibilities:
1. Follows plan of care established by the Registered Nurse within a specified timeframe; including, but not limited to, mouth care, bathing, AM and PM care, assistance with ambulation, transfers to chair and/or bed, taking and documenting vital signs, and recording accurate intake and output. Documents all patient care delivered according to established policies and procedures
 
2. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse duties such as non-sterile dressing changes, wound irrigation, foley catheter irrigation, application of ace wraps, IV access removal, bladder scans, EKG&rsquo;s, the application of telemetry monitoring may be assigned.
 
3. Performs duties with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served on the assigned units
 
4. Communicate relevant patient information to a professional nurse within appropriate time based on level of urgency. Reports problems immediately to a professional nurse
 
5. Answer intercom or call lights in a timely, courteous manner, with appropriate communication to patient and/or professional nurse.
 
6. Performs patient care based on established guidelines to diagnostic and therapeutic exams; i.e., NPO for labs or xrays, OR, diet changes related to tests, enema-related tests.
 
7. Assists other members of nursing team and/or ancillary departments as requested
 
8. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities 
 
 
Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:
Education: Completed High School Diploma or GED. Must be actively enrolled in a registered nurse RN program -and- must have completed at least one rotation of medical-surgical clinical in the acute care setting
