General Summary:
Works independently and with autonomous collaboration with physician to provide complete physical examinations, diagnosis, and treatment of both chronic and episodic disorders. Ensures proper illness and injury care and disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. The Nurse Practitioner works within a collaborative model to provide quality care and to improve patient outcomes by strengthening continuity of care in all settings for patients, families, and staff in both the hospital and physician practice settings. When department/case applicable, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) remains responsible for the patient throughout the course of the treatment, provides the physical examination, the diagnosis, and the health care plan, determines when the patient has recovered, and releases the patient. The NP may refer the patient to physicians for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment but retains responsibility for clinical management as well as any subsequent medication.
In addition to job description requirements, incumbents must also meet minimum criteria for medical staff privileges. 
 
Responsibilities:
1. Appropriately prescribes pharmaceuticals according to age, chronic medical conditions, allergies, drug interactions, and duration of therapy.
 
2. Perform routine and specialty physical exams and document specific age-related preventative health screening.
 
3. Educates and counsels patients to promote wellness. Addresses and provides resources for health risk behaviors.
 
4. Interprets diagnostic tests for patient and provides appropriate referrals or consultations.
 
5. Performs technical and surgical procedures for patients as necessary.
 
6. Appropriately dispenses pharmaceuticals according to age, chronic medical conditions, allergies, drug interactions, and duration of therapy.
 
7. Manages workers&rsquo; compensation cases, reviewing full work-related incident and prescribing appropriate plan of care. Documents status of modified duty and provides information to patient&rsquo;s employer.
 
8. Upholds the professional code of ethics.
 
9. Keeps all licenses/certifications up to date (including ACLS and PALS, if applicable).
 
10. Provide agreed upon coverage to care for patients in the appropriate settings (ex. ambulatory office and/or hospital) during business hours and evening/weekends, as mutually agreed upon and per medical staff bylaws.
 
11. All other duties as assigned, within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

 The PA may perform pre-, intra-, and post-operative care of surgical patients and functions as an essential member of the orthopedic team. The PA works directly to assist surgeons and other team members in all patient care activities.

 Responsibilities:

 Examines patients to determine presence of illness, utilizing physical findings, laboratory results, medical history, ascertains nature and extent of illness and prescribes treatments as indicated. Provide quality care across the continuum in collaboration with physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, nursing staff, and other members of the care team, and be expected to manage patient care autonomously within the scope of their professional practice.

 <li>
 Develops plan of care for patients in coordination with multidisciplinary team and completes appropriate reports to physicians and family.
 </li>
 <li>
 May provide inpatient care, rounding on surgery patients and providing pre, peri and post-op services including (A) Caring for complex surgical population (B) Assisting responsibilities in the operating room (C) Ordering and collecting test samples and assessing to update patient's plan of care as necessary (D) Educating patients and families during patient's hospital stay (E) Taking appropriate action when medical complications arise (F) Within the scope of their education, training, and credentialing, provide full-scope care for patients in the inpatient setting

 Position is responsible all aspects of the medical billing process from generating completed medical claims submissions to a completed and paid A/R. Receive encounters from EMR or other means of encounters information and prepare the encounter for submission. Abstract clinical information from a variety of medical records charts and documents and assigns appropriate DX and/or CPT-4 codes. Work with WQ or per supervisor instructions. Correct errors and denials from WQ or from other sources. Maintain AR processes to achieve organization&rsquo;s goals.
 
 
 
 Responsibilities:

 Review and analyze records to identify and correct errors.
 </li>

 Prepare encounter and code correct medical billing claims generated from the EMR to bill insurance carriers or other parties.

 Submit the claims correctly from the first time.

 Determine the correct encounters code from patient records. Codes data from patient records. Manage detailed, specifically coded information. When needed, abstracts data from patients&rsquo; medical records to maintain full diagnosis coding and charges capture.

 Interact with physicians and assistants to ensure accuracy. As needed, responds to physician inquiries that concern the proper documentation of diagnostic procedural information and questions regarding coding assignments.

 Identifies and verifies documentation and coding complacencies.
