What you need to know about the role</b><br>
Responsible for the operational performance, reliability and continual improvement of a multi-site network, this role combines hands-on support with involvement in project delivery, solution design and network optimisation.</div>
<div>
You will work closely with vendors and partners, providing technical assurance and constructive challenge, while contributing to the design and evolution of network solutions to ensure they are fit for purpose, secure and deliver value to the business, working alongside specialist security and firewall resources where appropriate.</div><br>

Key Responsibilities</b></div>
<ul>
<li>Maintain and support the organisation&rsquo;s multi-site network infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance and security.</li>
<li>Diagnose and resolve network incidents and problems, taking ownership through to resolution and root cause analysis.</li>
<li>Plan and implement network changes, upgrades and improvements in line with change control processes.</li>
<li>Support the delivery of network-related projects, working with internal teams and third-party partners.</li>
<li>Define and maintain network standards, documentation and best practices, ensuring consistency and maintainability.</li>
<li>Monitor network capacity, performance and resilience across LAN, WAN and wireless infrastructure, proactively identifying risks and areas for optimisation.</li>
<li>Contribute to and influence network solution design, reviewing and challenging vendor proposals to ensure they are secure, supportable and aligned to standards.</li>
<li>Work in partnership with dedicated firewall and security engineers, ensuring network and security designs are aligned and operationally effective.</li></ul><br>

What we need to know about you</b></div>
<div><b>
Essential:</b></div>
<ul>
<li>Strong experience supporting multi-site enterprise network environments</li>
<li>Solid knowledge of routing, switching, VPNs and network security</li>
<li>Hands-on Aruba and Cisco (switching &amp; wireless) + ClearPass NAC</li>
<li>Good understanding of firewall technologies (Palo Alto, Fortinet) and integration</li>
<li>Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis ability</li>
<li>Experience implementing controlled changes (ITIL environments)</li>
<li>Experience reviewing, interpreting and contributing to network designs and standards, with confidence to challenge vendors</li>
<li>Strong documentation skills (diagrams, standards, procedures)</li>
<li>Understanding of monitoring, performance and capacity management</li>
<li>Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders</li>
</ul>
<div><b>Desirable:</b></div>
<ul>
<li>Experience with SD-WAN technologies and modern network architectures.</li>
<li>Exposure to cloud networking (e.g. Azure vNet, VPN/ExpressRoute, hybrid connectivity).</li>
<li>Experience integrating network platforms with identity and access solutions (e.g. ClearPass, NAC, 802.1x).</li>
<li>Relevant industry certifications (e.g. CCNP, PCNSE, NSE4 or equivalent).</li>
<li>Experience working in industrial, manufacturing or multi-site operational environments.</li>
<li>Familiarity with network security principles and integration with SOC / MDR services.</li>
<li>Exposure to network automation, scripting or infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Python, Ansible).</li>
<li>Experience managing or working alongside managed service providers or external delivery partners.</li></ul><br>

<li>Engage internal teams and external suppliers to shape and validate solutions</li>

<li>Produce clear, structured design documentation to support delivery and ongoing support</li>
<li>Provide architectural oversight during delivery to ensure alignment with agreed designs</li>

<li>Strong background in IT infrastructure engineering (servers, storage, virtualisation, core platforms)</li>
<li>Proven ability to design end-to-end solutions across multiple infrastructure domains</li>
<li>Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (routing, switching, segmentation, firewalls)</li>
<li>Good working knowledge of cyber security principles (identity, access control, hardening, risk)</li>
<li>Experience working in hybrid environments (on-prem, cloud, and legacy/OT systems)</li>
<li>Ability to produce clear, structured solution designs (HLDs, LLDs, diagrams)</li>
<li>Experience translating business requirements into practical technical solutions</li>
<li>Ability to identify and manage risks, dependencies, and integration points across systems</li>
<li>Working knowledge of ITIL concepts and structured delivery environments (projects/programmes)</li>
<li>Strong ability to challenge constructively and drive technical consensus</li>
<li>Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills (technical and non-technical)</li>
<li>Experience working with multiple teams and third-party suppliers to deliver outcomes</li>

<li>Relevant certifications (e.g. ITIL, Azure, security, or architecture certifications)</li>
<li>Experience working in manufacturing, industrial, or OT environments</li>

<li>Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and modern hosting models</li>
<li>Familiarity with network security and segmentation approaches (e.g. NAC, Zero Trust concepts)</li>
