<p></p><div><p>Provide support to the Director of Library Services, respective campus&rsquo; Head Librarian, library staff and students. This position is not eligible for tenure.</p>

<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</b></h2></div>
<p></p><div><ul><li>Provide personal assistance to library users in answering reference questions and determining research strategies.</li><li>
Assist users in accessing and searching print and electronic resources.</li><li>
Assist users in accessing MyCalhoun, STARS, and Blackboard.</li><li>
Market and promote usage of electronic resources to faculty and students.</li><li>
Teach library instruction/information literacy skills to classes and groups, including English 101.</li><li>
Partner with faculty to develop ways to integrate electronic information offered by the AVL into teaching and learning.</li><li>
Search and export OCLC MARC bibliographic records using Cat Express.</li><li>
Import MARC records from Cat Express into Horizon.</li><li>
Edit MARC records, checking each with the book in hand; follow AACR2 Standards.</li><li>
Add contents notes to both MARC records for new books and older books where this field (505) is missing.</li><li>
Upgrade MARC records for older books, adding fixed fields, subfield delimiters, subject headings, bibliographical references/index notes, contents notes, etc.</li><li>
Attend annual meeting with full time librarians.</li></ul></div><p></p>

 <p></p><div><p><b>MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE</b></p><ul><li>
Master&rsquo;s degree in Library and/or Information Science from an accredited institution<b> is required.</b></li><li>
Working knowledge of the Alabama Virtual Library <b>is required.</b></li><li>
Working knowledge of an integrated online library system <b>is required.</b></li></ul><p>
Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate through their experiences and accomplishments:</p><ul><li>
Knowledge of the Alabama Virtual Library databases.</li><li>
Working knowledge of traditional and electronic services and resources.</li><li>
Excellent oral and written communication skills.</li><li>
Ability to follow instructions and prepare accurate paperwork.</li><li>
Ability to conduct individual and small group instruction.</li><li>
Ability to multi-task and prioritize issues.</li><li>
Ability to maintain confidential information.</li><li>
