Under close supervision, performs a variety of basic clerical duties at a school site or District office site.

This is an entry level position characterized by assisting other secretarial or clerical employees.

1. Performs a variety of clerical work including typing of letters, memoranda, lists, tests, or other material from written directions or examples. <b>(E)</b>

2. Files and sorts a wide variety of documents/materials. <b>(E)</b>
<br>
3. Assists office visitors by providing information on routine procedural questions; answers the telephone.

4. Operates general office machines to include keyboards.
<br>

6. Makes routine mathematical calculations.

<div><div><p>REQUIRED DOCUMENTS/ATTACHMENTS:
* Two (2) letters of recommendation - must be signed and dated within the last 24 months. Only wet signatures and e-signatures will be accepted; names typed out in a stylized font will not be accepted as a signature. Letters from relatives are not acceptable.
* Typing certificate, minimum typing speed of 40 net/corrected wpm. (See requirements listed.)
* Proof of education equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade. A combination of training and experience may be substituted for formal education.
No experience required.
Submit with the application a typing certificate for 40 net/corrected words per minute, typed during a 5-minute timed test from an accredited school or agency.
Pass the District Clerical Test and any combination of written, oral, and performance tests which may be administered to secure the best qualified applicants.
The Division of Human Resources requires a typing certificate from an accredited school or agency, dated no earlier than twenty-four (24) months before the opening date listed on the job ing on EdJoin. The typing certificate must be attached to the EdJoin application. Human Resources will not accept online certificates or e-mailed test results from typing websites. Typing test requirements and a partial list of local agencies that provide typing certificates can be accessed using the link: &ldquo;Typing Test Requirements &amp; Locations (Updated 05.2020)&rdquo;.
The typing certificate must contain the following information:
- Agency&rsquo;s official emblem
- Name of applicant
- Score identified as net or corrected words per minute typed during a five (5) minute timed test
- Date of certificate
- Signature of person certifying the certificate
- Address and telephone number of agency</p>
<p>All application materials for each applicant will be evaluated by a screening committee. A combination of written, oral, and performance tests may be administered to secure the best qualified applicants. Those who are deemed best qualified will be scheduled for an interview.
All applications (outside and in-house) along with required attachments must be submitted online through EdJoin.org no later than 4:30:00 PM on the closing date. Paper, e-mailed, or faxed applications and required attachments will not be accepted. The two (2) letters of reference or recommendation must be signed and dated within the last 24 months. <div>Lateral transfers are defined as permanent unit members within the same classification, same number of hours and same work days. Per Article 10.1.2 of the CSEA Collective Bargaining Agreement, unit members shall have first consideration for the vacancy.
