<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Essential Functions</b></h2></div>
<div><p>Inspects new and existing electrical wiring and installations in buildings and structures of any size or height to determine that installations conform to approved plans and applicable national electrical codes and City of Boise ordinance. Verifies that electrical equipment has the appropriate labeling and listings for the application. Performs on-site reviews of electrical plans and diagrams. Performs limited erosion and sediment control inspections. Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.<br>

Writes correction notices and requires corrections of deficiencies discovered in electrical wiring and installations. Monitors the inspection area for work performed without permits, proper occupancy approval or dangerous conditions. Issues notices of violation, including stop-work orders, where unsafe or illegal conditions exist. Performs inspections of permitted work to verify progress on projects with little documented activity.<br>

Coordinates power termination due to severe code and life safety violations with local utilities, supervisor and planning and development services staff members. Verifies the proper licensing of electrical contractors and journey-level workers. Responds to complaints from tenants, homeowners and others about possible substandard housing conditions due to electrical code violations.<br>

Advises electrical contractors and homeowners on various installation problems relating to electrical codes. Provides information on the electrical code and other related regulatory requirements. Meets regularly with other electrical inspectors to develop policies and procedures to ensure uniformity of inspection.<br>
<br>
Coordinates activities with other departments and inspection staff by recording inspection results in the city's database. Works with other inspectors to coordinate inspection coverage of the city and ensure that electrical work is inspected and approved before issuing a certificate of occupancy, completion or other final approval. Demonstrates continuous efforts to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality, seamless customer service.<br>

High school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience as a practicing journey-level electrician licensed in the State of Idaho. Within 6 months of hire passing electrical inspector certifications for residential and commercial installations offered by the Independent Alliance of the Electrical Industry (IAEI) or the International Code Council (ICC).<br>

Logs assigned PRRs into related software. Assists in collecting digital records responsive to subpoenas and/or other large PRR requests. Assists City Legal with obtaining records for litigation/risk management and assists area supervisor with subpoenas.</li><li>
Research records and complex requests in multiple systems. Creates cost invoices for requests that require more than two hours of staff time. Works closely with the city&rsquo;s public safety paralegals and city attorneys to meet the requirements of the Idaho Public Records Act.</li><li>
Confidential releases to other Law Enforcement agencies that require NCIC redaction. Packages requests from internal officers/detectives for release to partner LE/government agencies.</li><li>
Collects, sorts and organizes evidence items released from Ada County Property and other department records in preparation for archiving. Enters department records and evidence into the city&rsquo;s OnBase system for archiving. Uses the city&rsquo;s retention schedule for the purposes of compliance with state and city records management guidelines. Maintains Audio Cassette Archive and Digital Audio Databases for prosecutor and public records access.</li><li>
