<div><div><p><b>Summary of Duties</b><b>: </b>Under basic supervision, the Quartermaster, Assistant is responsible for coordinating and providing equipment repair to ensure its operational readiness, and for maintaining specific supplies needed in the daily operation of the Police Department.</p><p><b>

Quartermaster Operation Duties</b><b>:</b></p><ul><li>
Compares bids; orders, receives, maintains, and stocks inventory.</li><li>
Issues, exchanges, and repairs supplies and equipment; processes returns; tracks inventory.</li><li>
Creates, files, and maintains documentation of all personnel, purchase orders, spending, equipment, and inventory reports and records.</li><li>
Schedules and completes uniform fittings.</li><li>
Performs the in and out processing of new Sworn and Non-Sworn personnel.</li><li>
Works with other City departments and vendors to facilitate work; supervises contracted work.</li><li>
Creates and receives purchase orders; enters purchase order information into computer system; picks-up invoices; ships and receives deliveries; processes payments.</li><li>
Trains new Quartermaster personnel on all aspects of the Quartermaster Operation.</li><li>
Fills daily request from sworn and non-sworn PD personnel via email and walk-up customers at service window.</li><li>
Provides Open Records request on various Quartermaster Unit subjects.</li><li>
Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work schedule is essential.</li></ul><p><b>
Fleet Operation Duties</b><b>:</b></p><ul><li>
Transports vehicles to various repair locations.</li><li>
Tracks and schedules radar calibrations and preventative maintenance for over 300 department vehicles.</li><li>
Stocks and maintains stock level in Fleet Cabinets containing oil, coolant and washer fluid.</li><li>
Manages and tracks logistics with 29 fleet related vendors for various repairs and services including creating and receiving purchase orders to pay invoices.</li><li>
Assures that Police Squads are stocked with all required safety equipment.</li><li>
Schedules bio-hazard vendors for specialized squad cleaning.</li><li>
Responds to daily repair work orders from the automated PD Service Request system, then takes appropriate action.</li><li>
Contacts Command Staff/Officers when vehicles are back in service and the vehicle&rsquo;s location.</li><li>
Works in unison with the Equipment Officer in a myriad of support functions and provides logistical support.</li><li>
Trains new Fleet Team personnel on all aspects of the Fleet Operation.</li><li>
Provides court request for radar certification for active court cases.</li><li>
Provides Open Records request in relation to radar certifications, radar manuals and repair histories.</li><li>
Submit accurate data directly to the City Prosecuting Attorney office on radars, as requested</li><li>
Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work schedule is essential.</li></ul><p><b>
Marginal Duties</b><b>:</b></p><ul><li>
Performs other duties as assigned.</li></ul><p><b>
Typical Decisions</b><b>:</b> The position requires the incumbent to prioritize work to meet the demands of the department.</p><p><b>
Minimum Qualifications</b><b>:</b></p><p><b>
Knowledge of: </b>Inventory control methods, procedures, and practices; police equipment and supplies; general office policies and procedures.</p><p><b>
Skill in: </b>Communicating clearly both verbally and in writing; completing simple mathematical calculations; maintaining files and records.</p><p><b>
Education: </b>High school diploma or GED equivalent required.</p><p><b>
Experience: </b>One (1) year of previous customer service experience and six (6) months of inventory control experience required.</p><p>
Any work-related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above Minimum Qualifications is an acceptable substitute for the above specified education and experience requirements.</p><p><b>
Licenses and Certifications: </b>Texas Class C driver&rsquo;s license (must obtain within 30 days of hire per state law).</p><p><b>
Conditions of Employment</b><b>:</b> Must pass a drug test, driver license check, criminal history background check, periodic CJIS background check (for positions requiring access into Police buildings) and social security number verification check.</p><p><b>
Physical Demands and Working Conditions</b><b>:</b> Work is performed in Police facilities, some travel between work and repair locations may be required. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull supply and equipment. Employees may be required to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds.</p><p>
Employees work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.</p><p>
