</div><div>The Justice and Public Safety Cabinet is seeking an experienced Staff Attorney III to provide legal advice for the Kentucky State Police (KSP).
<br>

While this position is under the Office of the Secretary, it will be physically located at Kentucky State Police Headquarters and will primarily support the attorneys and staff at KSP.
<br>
<br>
Our attorneys provide legal advice for the agency, cabinet officers, employees, and departments on a myriad of issues, such as employment and administrative law matters, regulatory and statutory interpretation, legislative initiatives, and a wide range of civil legal questions.
<br>
<br>

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
<ul><li>Responsible for federal and state civil litigation.
</li><li>Represent the agency in suits filed by the Kentucky claims commission.
</li><li>Ensure timely compliance with both state and federal subpoenas.
</li><li>Represent agency during civilian administrative hearings.
</li><li>Perform complex legal research and analysis.
</li><li>Prepare appellate briefs and oral arguments.
</li><li>Provide accurate and timely legal advice and assistance.
</li><li>Assist with open records questions and appeals.
</li><li>Assist with drafting KSP policies and procedures.
</li><li>Draft and review contracts and memoranda of agreement and understanding.
</li><li>Provide guidance to KSP Command Staff.
</li><li>Other duties as assigned.
</li></ul>Preferred Skills:

<ul><li>Supervises technicians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic component systems, electronic recording, monitoring or measuring devices and other electronic equipment and devices.
</li><li>Performs the duties of a technician particularly in the more difficult and technical areas.
</li><li>Supervises the evaluation of electronic equipment performance and final inspection and adjustment of installation and special systems.
</li><li>Maintains technical records and reports of maintenance and repairs.
</li><li>Interprets blueprints and technical drawings for technicians.
</li><li>Inspects work of staff.
</li></ul>This position requires a high degree of adaptability and initiative, a candidate must be responsive to rapidly changing work environment requiring complex decision-making skills in a dynamic work environment. Superior communication skills are ideal with colleagues, employees, and supervisors.

</div><div><div><b>EDUCATION:</b> High school graduate.</div><br>

<div><b>EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:</b> Five years of technical experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic equipment.</div><br>

<div><b>Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:</b> Technical training in electronics or a related field will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.</div><br>
<br>
<div><b>Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:</b> Additional technical experience will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.</div><br>
<br>
<div><b>SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):</b> NONE
