If this sounds like you, then you might be the ideal candidate for Legal Secretary at the Cynthiana Trial Office of the Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy.<br>
<br>
In this important role in Kentucky&rsquo;s largest criminal defense firm, you will be acting as both a liaison between attorneys, clients, and other members of the community. You will also be expected to draft and edit a variety of documents, so excellent communication skills - both written and verbal - are a must. Time management skills are also valued as the ideal candidate will be handling multiple time-sensitive tasks for various attorneys, and the ideal candidate will be able to prioritize and complete requested duties independently.<br>
<br>
Knowledge of programs like Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Courtnet, and other court related platforms is preferred.<br>
<br>
Our clients are people not able to afford an attorney who the government has charged with criminal offenses in Harrison, Pendleton, Nicholas and Robertson counties. Compassion for our clients and commitment to our mission are critical characteristics for the successful candidate.<br>
<br>
A pleasant, outgoing personality both in-person and on the phone are also highly desirable traits for this position.<br>
<br>
Other responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
<ul><li>File creation.
</li><li>Preparing correspondence.
</li><li>Data entry.
</li><li>Answer phones.
</li><li>Greet clients as needed.
</li><li>Prepare and/or proofread legal documents for staff attorneys.
</li><li>Assist with other clerical tasks.</li></ul>

</div><div>The Executive Branch Ethics Commission, authorized by KRS 11A.060, is an independent agency of the Commonwealth that has been given the responsibility of administering and enforcing the provisions of the Code of Ethics. The advice, investigation, and enforcement duties of the Commission requires policy-making staff to carry out these statutorily required functions.<br>
<br>
This policy-making position provides executive level support by assisting the General Counsel and Executive Director with expert legal advice, research, policy development, investigation, and enforcement related to KRS 11A. Like county attorneys and Commonwealth Attorneys, the role is responsible for investigating violations, drafting charges and prosecuting those, drafting legal memorandum, reviewing relevant statutes, regulations, and proposed legislation. Additional duties include representing the Executive Branch Ethics Commission in court litigation and legal matters involving the Commission, as well as helping to coordinate responses to open records requests.<br>
<br>
Salary is commensurate with experience but listed between $80,000 and $90,000, and we asked for a JD with 3-5 years experience.
