This position is responsible for the development, preparation, consolidation, and analysis of the corporate budget, long-range financial forecast (LRFF), and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). This position maintains, updates, and improves financial models to support strategic decisions.</p>

Key Responsibilities</b></h2><div><br>

</div><p><b>Financial Forecasting</b></p><ul><li>
Maintains, updates, and improves UI Planner financial model.</li><li>
Prepares financial forecasts and financial plans by gathering input from subject matter experts, performing complex analysis, evaluating costs and benefits, conducting research, and coordinating corporate input into a financial model.</li><li>
Generates comprehensive financial reports and presentations from the long-range financial model.</li><li>
Leads meetings with EKPC staff to gain agreement and collect information for the creation of financial models.</li><li>
Performs risk analysis on financial model and communicates the impact of various assumptions to leadership (e.g. production costing, investments, load forecasts, and environmental factors).</li></ul><p><b>
Budget</b></p><ul><li>
Develops corporate budget targets and business unit targets, and monitors progress in meeting requirements.</li><li>
Prepares budget for complex areas (e.g. member revenue, fuel and purchased power, transmission, and labor).</li><li>
Creates and maintains complex spreadsheets, models, databases, and PeopleSoft nVision reports prepared for the corporate budget and all department budgets.</li><li>
Provides direction to department staff with preparation of their budget and supporting documents for work plans and cooperative goals.</li><li>
Ensures all department budgets meet completion requirements, accuracy, and conformance with established policies, procedures, regulations, and organization objectives.</li><li>
Develops budget and planning models.</li><li>
Reviews reforecast results and budget journal entries.</li></ul><p><b>
Reporting</b></p><ul><li>
Reviews variance analyses of historical, current, and forecasted projections.</li><li>
Reviews data from various sources and prepares financial reports/analyses at the corporate and department level.</li><li>
Reviews and prepares profitability analyses, revenue and expense trend analyses, interprets data, and communicates results and understanding of information to EKPC personnel.</li><li>
Reviews actual-to-budget variance explanations for departments and recommends specific corrections to general ledger accounts, budget codes, and department codes to improve accuracy.</li><li>
Serves as the nVision report writing subject matter expert and PeopleSoft power user.</li><li>
Assists others to obtain data and reporting to improve their business processes.</li></ul><p><b>
Performance Measurement</b></p><ul><li>
Provides assistance to Director in establishing corporate KPI targets and business unit targets. Tracks and monitors progress of performance targets by providing variance analysis.</li><li>
Analyzes and reports on measurement against metrics and the achievement of overall business goals.</li><li>
Researches and recommends continuous improvements to the planning processes to increase customer satisfaction and improve department productivity.</li><li>
Actively participates in upgrades, enhancements, and implementations of PeopleSoft, UI Planner, Power B.I., and other software.</li><li>
Provides analysis in response to data requests from the PSC and other agencies.</li><li>
Prepares ad-hoc reports and analyses.</li></ul><p><b>

</div><p>Education:</p><ul><li>
Bachelor&iquest;s degree in related area required. MBA preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.</li></ul><p>
Experience:</p><ul><li>
Seven (7) years of related experience.</li><li>
Extensive experience in finance and accounting required.</li></ul><p>
Skills and Abilities:</p><ul><li>
Thorough understanding of the utility industry and its financial components.</li><li>
Thorough understanding of assumptions, impacts, and risks from generation plans, load forecasts, and environmental factors.</li><li>
Strong analytical skills, including financial, quantitative, and statistical analysis.</li><li>
Thorough knowledge of software tools, including business Intelligence and structure query language.</li><li>
Thorough understanding of computer application and modeling skills; spreadsheet, database, and forecasting software (e.g. UI Planner).</li><li>
Ability to provide guidance, training, and mentoring to team.</li><li>
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with other contacts, both inside and outside the cooperative.</li><li>
