</h1>GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
Operates a crawler or rubber-tired machine mounted with an excavator bucket. Used for excavating ditches, structures and mass excavations, laying pipe and precast concrete structures, loading trucks and placing rock riprap. May also be equipped with various hydraulic attachments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
<ul><li>Start engines, move throttles, switches, and levers, and depress pedals to operate machines.
</li><li>Signal truck driver to position truck to facilitate loading of dirt, rocks, and other materials.
</li><li>Take actions to avoid potential hazards and obstructions such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, and falling objects.
</li><li>May oil, grease, or otherwise service the machine.
</li><li>Make necessary adjustment to equipment as needed.
</li></ul>OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
<ul><li>Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.

</h1>Responsible for maintenance and repairs of all structures including movable bridges, fixed bridges, culverts, overhead sign structures, high mast lighting and bridge fender systems in accordance with standards and conditions specified in the contract and as directed by the supervisor.
<h1 class="jobSectionHeader">Primary Duties and Responsibilities
</h1><ul><li>Maintain and repair highway structures including concrete, structural steel, welding, expansion joints, carpentry and painting as required.
</li><li>Creates safe Maintenance of Traffic (M.O.T.) control by setup and removal of traffic controls devices including cones, message/arrow boards, temporary signage, etc.
</li><li>Must be comfortable working from heights in bucket trucks, snooper trucks, scaffolding, ladders and aerial platforms lifts.
</li><li>Repairs/maintains functionality of bridge and culvert slopes, berms, drains, etc. through use of shovels and other had or power tools and equipment.
</li><li>Controls vegetation appearance and growth through use of lawn moving equipment, hard or power trimmers, and chemical sprayers and other methods.
</li><li>Maintains the appearance and functionality of bridge fender systems including navigational signs, lighting, and all elements of the structural fender systems.
</li><li>Must be comfortable working in and around water and from boats.
</li><li>Transports crew and equipment to work sites operating vehicle large trucks and specialized motor vehicles and trailers.
</li><li>Required to be available for emergency response rotations as needed for overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

</h1><ul><li>Should be able to demonstrate knowledge of structures maintenance.

</li><li>Will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to your job.

</h1><ul><li>Able to respond 24-hours a day for after hour emergency calls necessitated by accidents and/or bridge malfunctions.
</li><li>The employee is regularly required to stand; sit; walk on a wide range of surfaces; use hands and fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.
</li><li>Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted. Use manual and powered pneumatic, hydraulic, gas, and electric powered tools and equipment. Vision abilities include both close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
</li><li>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely exposed to outside weather conditions including extreme heat and cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high precarious places; fume or airborne particles. Occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
