<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Job Responsibilities</b></h2></div>
<div><p>The Chronic Disease, Health Behaviors, and Injury Epidemiology Section (CHIE) is seeking a part-time data science consultant to create GA-BRFSS a comprehensive dashboard with the capability for annually being updated by the GA-BRFSS coordinator. This one-time data science consultant will establish a dynamic data dashboard including demographic description, chronic conditions, preventive measures, health screenings, access to health care and determinants of health.</p><ul><li>
Knowledge in epidemiological methods including research design, data analysis, and interpretation/communication.</li><li>
Skilled in creating epidemiologic indicators, such as prevalence, rates, moving averages, rolling incidence, and population-adjusted metrics.</li><li>
Knowledge of spatial and demographic analysis for identifying geographic disparities and vulnerable populations.</li><li>
Familiarity with CDC BRFSS, ACS, and Social Vulnerability (SVI) datasets.</li><li>
Knowledge of data visualization best practice.</li><li>
Experience transforming public health data into interactive dashboards and maps for public or internal audiences;</li><li>
Experience collaborating with variety of stakeholders</li><li>
Proficient in managing, and analyzing large datasets using:<ul><li>
SAS, SAS Callable SUDAAN and Data step logic</li><li>
R such as via tidyverse, ggplot2</li><li>
Python: Numpy, Pandas, ArcPy</li><li>
Excel Power Query</li></ul></li><li>
Creates and automates routine data loading, preprocessing, and reporting pipelines</li><li>
Converts and exports datasets for use in Tableau/ESRI environments (CSV, GeoJSON, feature classes, shapefiles)</li><li>

<div><p>Successful applicants will have a master&rsquo;s degree in any public health field from an accredited university and at least 3 years&rsquo; experience performing epidemiologic work or work in a closely related field.<br>

</b></p><ul><li>1 year experience working with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc&hellip;)</li><li>
Team player &ndash; ability to work well with people with different background and skill set.</li><li>

<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Job Responsibilities</b></h2></div>
<div><p>The Outbreak Coordinator oversees cross-cutting reporting and data quality related to infectious disease outbreaks statewide, ensuring internal data management meeting state, district, and CDC requirements. This position also is responsible for enteric disease surveillance and outbreak investigations, supporting public health district epidemiology staff, working with internal and external partners on enteric disease surveillance, prevention, and investigation. The position also collaborates with Georgia Public Health Laboratory (GPHL) colleagues and others on use of whole genome sequencing in outbreak detection and investigation. In partnership with colleagues, the Outbreak Coordinator may present investigations and findings in local, state, and national meetings and conferences.</p><ul><li><p><br>
Coordinates data management for all Georgia outbreaks in the SendSS module termed PHIRE</p></li><li><p>
Ensures utilization of CDC systems such as SEDRIC and NORS for outbreak detection and reporting</p></li><li><p>
Assists in enteric disease case ascertainment, data collection, and data cleaning</p></li><li><p>
Participate in training and data integration activities regarding whole genome sequencing data.</p></li><li><p>
Prepare written reports and presentations that communicate necessary information to staff, the public, and partners.</p></li><li><p>
Identify surveillance needs; assist with design, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of public health surveillance systems.</p></li><li><p>
Performs various duties in support of DPH Food and Waterborne team and ADES section operations.</p></li><li><p>
Contributes to CDC cooperative agreement proposals and monitoring activities.</p></li><li><p>
Serves as subject matter expert for one or more food or waterborne reportable conditions.</p></li><li><p>
Work closely with district and county health jurisdictions; and maintain knowledge of epidemiologic methods and of current developments in the area of acute disease epidemiology.</p></li></ul></div><p></p>
<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Minimum Qualifications</b></h2></div>
<div><p>Bachelor's degree in any field from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of experience performing epidemiologic work or work in a closely related field;<br>
<b>OR</b><br>
Two (2) years of experience at the lower-level Epidemiologist 1 (HCP180) or position equivalent.<br>
<br>
<b>Preferred Qualifications</b></p><ul><li>
Experience conducting infectious disease case interviews.</li><li>
Experience detecting, investigating, and communicating about infectious disease outbreaks.</li><li>
Experience working or interning in state or local public health department.</li><li>
Master in Public Health or related degree from an accredited degree program.</li><li>
Experience with data management, analysis and visualization.</li><li>
Experience communicating public health topics through written and oral platforms.</li></ul></div><p></p>
