Work involves: driving the bookmobile in a rural setting, demonstrating excellent customer service skills while assisting patrons with technology, working at the circulation desk; searching for information, programming, and performing other Library service needs.<br>

<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</b></h2></div>
<div><p><b>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:</b></p><br>
<ul><li>
Driving the Winnebago 425S Bookmobile in a rural setting.</li><li>
Maintain an accurate route schedule utilizing effective time management skills.</li><li>
Daily loading and unloading of books and other materials from Bookmobile</li><li>
Provide direct public service by greeting and assisting patrons in person and by phone with library services.</li><li>
Provides reference and readers&rsquo; advisory services.</li><li>
Assist patrons with online searches, Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), other electronic resources, and the Library's print management system.</li><li>
Retrieves items from the outside book drop.</li><li>
Organizes Library materials and returns items to the appropriate locations.</li><li>
Works with various office equipment including fax machine, copier, and computer.</li><li>
Performs circulation duties; registers new patrons; checks items in and out; collects lost item and damage fees; reserves Library materials for patrons; searches the catalogue; and manages patron accounts.</li><li>
Sanitizes and tidies areas that patrons frequent.</li><li>
Plans and implements programming for children, teens, and adults.</li><li>
Assists in promoting bookmobile services, programs, and resources through creative displays, marketing, and social media.</li></ul><ul><li>
Assists the community engagement team in cultivating community partnerships and coordinating outreach and community engagement opportunities.</li><li>
Performs other related duties as assigned.</li><li>

<div><p><b>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:</b></p><br>

High school diploma;</li><li>
No experience required but some work or volunteer experience in a library or a bookmobile setting preferred;</li><li>
Or equivalent education and/or experience; and</li></ul><ul><li>
Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license.</li><li>
Willing to obtain a Notary Public within one year</li></ul><br>

<div><p><b>PHYSICAL DEMANDS:</b><br>

Must be able to perform work frequently exerting up to 20 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects; and occasionally requiring to exert up to 30 pounds of force to move objects. This work also involves the physical abilities of crouching, feeling, grasping, handling, perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels, discriminating among sounds, kneeling, lifting, having manual dexterity, using mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, speaking, stooping, expressing ideas by the spoken word, and walking. An incumbent must also possess the visual acuity to analyze data, work with color or depth perception, determine accuracy, and works with computer.<br>

<b>WORK ENVIRONMENT:</b><br>

The employee works in library and outdoor environments. Job duties require working an assigned schedule which could be a combination of mornings, afternoons, and evening work as well as weekends in addition to working at various bookmobile stops and other locations such as the main branch in Lillington and other branch libraries.</p></div></div></div>

Work involves functions such as intake, review and process of the Adult Medicaid applications to determine eligibility. In the intake process, employees are responsible for obtaining all pertinent data concerning the clients' family composition, financial and employment. Employees are involved in processing clients' information through the verification of all documents obtained during intake. The employees' responsibility for determining the clients' continued eligibility for Adult Medicaid will depend upon the function performed. Work other duties as assigned Adult Medicaid IM Supervisor.<br>

Organizing</b><b> (</b><b>20% of the time)</b></li></ul>
Employees balance workloads within Adult Medicaid unit and coordinate overall workflow. Work requires employees to develop procedures and to make minor organizational changes and recommend other changes to improve efficiency.<br>

Guidelines</b> (<b>20% of the time)</b></li></ul>
Employees refer to the Adult Medicaid manuals in performing all functions required to complete the eligibility determination process. Guidelines are subject to periodic and frequent changes. Employees also utilize agency procedural guides in accomplishing the work. Correspondence and memoranda from State regulatory agencies are also used in interpreting policy directives.</div><p></p>

Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills. Ability to communicate with clients, applicants, and the public to obtain data, and to explain and interpret rules, policies, and procedures. Ability to understand the needs and problems of clients/applicants. Ability to learn the program area of assignment and all agency programs and services which could affect the client/applicant.<br>
<b>Education/Certification:</b><br>

Graduation from an accredited associate degree program in Human Services Technology, Social Services Associate, Paralegal Technology, Business Administration, Secretarial Science, or a closely related curriculum; or graduation from high school and two years of paraprofessional, clerical, or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling of data, analysis of data and/or performance of mathematical or legal tasks with at least one year of such experience being in an income maintenance program; or graduation from high school and three years of paraprofessional, clerical or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, the gathering and compiling of data, the analysis of data and/or the performance of mathematical or legal tasks; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.</p></div>
