<div><div><div><b>Training Specialist II - Full-time in Springfield, IL</b></div><div></div><div><b><i><br>
Salary Range: $42,000-$48,000</i></b></div><div></div><div><b><br>
JOB SUMMARY</b>:</div><div>
Under general supervision, the Training Specialist II is responsible for training new and existing employees as well as coordinating, developing, implementing and revising employee trainings. The position helps provide oversight to the Hope Autism Clinics new employee training program as well as various supports to all Hope programs; interacts with employees, co-workers and other trainers in a warm, positive, helpful and professional manner; navigates various technology, software and websites daily; uses active listening and clear communication to navigate conflict resolution and embodies the mission and core values of Hope.</div><div></div><div><b><br>
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
</b></div><div>1. Conduct and coordinate employee development, training, and orientation programs, including but not limited to new employee training for Hope Autism programs, Safety Care, and CPR/First Aid trainings.</div><ul><li>
Manage new employee training for Hope Autism Clinics including creating training schedules, setting up for trainings, managing the day-to-day operations of the training, carrying the training cell phone, supervising the new employees during their initial training period, completing payroll for employees in new hire training and enforcing Hope policies &amp; training expectations.</li><li>
Communicate with program managers regarding issues with employees in new hire training (including but not limited to issues related to knowledge retention, failure to meet required training standards, attendance &amp; performance) and complete discipline as necessary.</li><li>
Monitor and ensure staff are in compliance and current with all training requirements by running reports, scheduling trainings, notifying departments of staff needing training, and conducting the trainings.</li></ul><div>
5. Assign courses in Hope University and Relias to employees as well as approve employee uploaded documents and chart them where required.</div><div>
6. Input completed trainings into required websites, software and spreadsheets and obtain trainees&rsquo; training certifications.</div><ul><li>
Maintain records related to the completion of all required staff trainings.</li></ul><div>
8. Create interactive trainings and PowerPoints from developed materials as well as researching new information to put into trainings.</div><ul><li>
Assist with audits for various internal and external agencies (including state funding and licensing bodies).</li><li>
Attain and then maintain trainer certifications in Safety Care and CPR/First Aid.</li><li>
Complete all required trainings.</li></ul><div></div><div><b><br>
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:</b></div><ul><li>

2. Assist with managing and proctoring the ACT WorkKeys testing for newly hired paraprofessionals as needed.</div><ul><li>
Assumes responsibility as a mandated reporter concerning incidents of alleged abuse and neglect of individuals served by Hope, as outlines in the agency&rsquo;s policies and procedures.</li></ul><div></div><div><b><br>
WORKING CONDITIONS:
</b></div><div>Work is performed primarily in an indoor office or conference room/classroom environment, free from extreme weather conditions. Work is performed both in a private office setting and in a larger conference room/classroom setting and may require close physical interactions with employees, within a few feet or less, and involves daily contact with employees, co-workers and other trainers. Work may involve conflict situations or irate or aggressive employees. Work includes the ability to drive. Work may require working flexible hours if trainings are required outside of normal business hours. Position requires travel to various Hope worksites and requires overnight stays.</div><div></div><div><b><br>
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</b></div><div>
The Training Specialist II requires the ability to traverse property and facilities to set up for trainings and complete trainings. This position may be subject to prolonged periods of sit-down work at a desk and working on a computer as well as prolonged periods of standing (especially when training). Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry a minimum of 50 pounds at a time. This position requires the ability to bend, twist, kneel or stoop on a repetitive or continuous basis, operate various business instruments including computers, speakers, web cameras, projectors, or copiers requiring manual dexterity. Data input and training creation may require extended levels of concentration as well as visual acuity to read paperwork and computer monitors; requires the ability to speak clearly and communicate effectively with individuals encountered.</div><div></div><div><b><br>

TRAINING, ACADEMIC AND EXPERIENTIAL REQURIEMENTS:</b></div><ul><li>
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.</li><li>
2+ years of experience working directly with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.</li><li>
2 years of experience in employee training or development.</li></ul><div></div><div><b><br>
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</b></div><ul><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree or a combination of college credits and experience equal to a bachelor&rsquo;s degree.</li></ul><p></p><p><br>

   The Behavior Specialist is responsible for behavioral assessments, functional analyses, behavior program design and development (based upon ABA principles), data tracking and analyses, and ongoing monitoring of programs for individual youth. Development and implementation of staff training procedures on a regular basis is expected, as is participation in multidisciplinary team meetings. The goal is to be able to work direct with the youth, and assist the staff who work with the youth in using appropriate behavioral and clinical techniques so that children may achieve targeted objectives and grow towards reaching their highest potential in maladaptive behavior reduction while simultaneously increasing functional skills.

   What You Will Do:

   Functional Analysis: Carried out at one of two levels: Level I (&ldquo;Informal,&rdquo; where motivation for exhibiting maladaptive behaviors is identified by analysis of information obtained from caregivers through interviews and questionnaires); Level II (&ldquo;Descriptive,&rdquo; based upon actual observations of the individual at various times of day and repeated observations across time). A Behavior Specialist may assist and work under the direct supervision of a Behavior Analyst in performing Level III Analogue Analysis of Function.
  </li>
  <br/>
  <li>
   Design of Data Collection Systems: Design and implement data collection forms and procedures, to best quantify behavior data across various environments and settings. Examples of such include (not all inclusive) partial interval time sampling, interval time sampling, cumulative frequencies, and duration recordings.
  </li>
  <br/>
  <li>
   Data Analysis: Plot and systematically analyze program and baseline data in terms of levels, trends, variability, and functional relationships.
  </li>
  <br/>
  <li>
   Design of Behavior Support Plans (BSPs): Design behavior support plans, based upon functional analysis and data analysis results. BSPs may be formal (required for any youth with a Level II intervention, including use of psychotropic medications) or informal, which may take the form of general behavior support strategies or a detailed set of procedures outlining a positive intervention. Level II Intervention Plans must be written under the supervision of and signed off by a Behavior Analyst.

     Positive Interventions for Teaching Adaptive Behaviors: Components include task analysis, identification of reinforcers, appropriate task prompts, schedule(s) of reinforcement, procedures for generalization of learned skills, and design of an appropriate data collection system.
    </li>

    <li>
     Design of Response Reduction Interventions: Components include identification of intervention procedures that are the least intrusive techniques that will reduce the display of the targeted behavior. Must be based upon adequate functional analysis, an appropriate data collection system, concurrent implementation of positive interventions to develop replacement behaviors, and demonstration of necessary skills by staff who receive training.

     Implementation of Interventions and/or to Collect Data: Training includes specific and detailed information and demonstration on how to conduct planned interventions and how to collect appropriate data, with appropriate return demonstration by staff.
    </li>
    <br/>
    <li>
     Orientation Training: Development and regulate implementation of training for new staff on basic ABA concepts, Autism, and related topics.
    </li>
    <br/>
   </ul>
  </li>
  <br/>
  <li>
   Work closely with Educational Staff at The Hope Institute, and in community schools as needed, to ensure training in and implementation of necessary behavior support strategies in the classroom. This may involve youth observations, staff training, and consultation.
  </li>
  <br/>
  <li>
   Attend and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, including IEPs, admission screenings and staffings, and the Behavior Intervention Committee. Review client progress, share assessment results, and/or make recommendations regarding intervention/treatment techniques.
  </li>
  <br/>
  <li>
   Program planning and development: provide ongoing input into long-range plans for Behavioral Health Services and the role of this department at The Hope Institute
  </li>
  <br/>
  <li>
   Ongoing professional development: participate in continuing education and professional development by attending workshops and conferences, maintaining active memberships in professional organizations, publishing research, and/or making presentations to other professionals.
  </li>
  <br/>
  <li>
   Establish personal goals for professional growth; participate actively in problem-solving; provide solution-oriented and proactive recommendations; maintain effective and respectful interactions; communicate clearly and effectively; practice in accord with APA ethical standards.
  </li>
  <br/>
  <li>
   Maintains compliance with all applicable DCFS and DHS regulations and licensure requirements.
  </li>
  <br/>
  <li>
   Eligible to sit for the Become Board Certified Behavior Analyst exam within 36-months of initial hire date by Hope Institute
  </li>
  <br/>
  <li>
   Assumes responsibility as a mandated reporter concerning incidents of purported abuse/neglect of students as outlined in the agency&rsquo;s policies and procedures.
  </li>
  <br/>
  <li>
   Assumes responsibilities for assuring compliance of student rights and program delivery as defined in the Illinois Department of Mental Health Code and the Confidentiality Act, as well as the Child Care Act of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services
  </li>

   Experience and or specialized knowledge in one or more of the following: Developmental Disabilities; Autism Spectrum Disorders; Cognitive Impairment. Knowledge of psychopharmacology and/or Mental Health issues also helpful.

   Ability to communicate clearly and effectively (both written and orally) in a professional manner, with all levels of employees (professionals, teachers, paraprofessionals, direct-care, etc.). Ability to interact effectively on a multidisciplinary team.

   Successful background clearance, physical and drug/alcohol screening
