Our Enterprise Analytics team empowers clinicians, researchers, and operational leaders with timely, trusted insights. We operate in cross-functional Product-Oriented Delivery (POD) teams, using modern data platforms like Databricks and Sigma Computing to turn data into action.
 
We are seeking a Business Intelligence Developer (L2) to help build intuitive, high-impact data products in Sigma Computing and Databricks. You will be responsible for turning structured data into interactive, user-centered workbooks and apps that drive decision-making across clinical, financial, and operational domains.
The Role
You will be the technical builder of analytics experiences&mdash;designing and developing experiences that are performant, reusable, and aligned with real user needs. You&rsquo;ll work within a POD to deliver data products that go beyond static dashboards to become embedded tools in daily workflows.
Success in this role means building products that users adopt quickly, trust deeply, and rely on consistently&mdash;while adhering to enterprise standards for security, performance, and maintainability.
Key Responsibilities
<ul><li>Design, develop, and maintain production-grade workbooks in Sigma and Databricks that deliver actionable insights to stakeholders.
</li></ul><ul><li>Translate complex data models (from Databricks) into intuitive, performant visualizations with clear narratives.
</li></ul><ul><li>Write clean, well-documented formulas using Sigma&rsquo;s calculation engine (aggregations, conditionals, time-series logic).
</li></ul><ul><li>Ensure adherence to row-level security and access controls in alignment with HIPAA and data governance policies.
</li></ul><ul><li>Partner with Product Managers, Analytics Engineers, and Clinical Informaticists to refine requirements and validate outputs.
</li></ul><ul><li>Establish and follow BI development standards (e.g., consistent metrics, reusable components, version control).
</li></ul><ul><li>Identify opportunities to productize recurring analytics and reduce redundancy across the ecosystem.
</li></ul><ul><li>Participate in agile ceremonies as a core member of a POD&mdash;contributing to planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
</li></ul>Qualifications
Required
<ul><li>2+ years of experience in business intelligence or data visualization.
</li></ul><ul><li>Proven fluency in Sigma Computing &mdash;you&rsquo;ve built complex, production-grade workbooks from scratch.
</li></ul><ul><li>Strong understanding of relational data models and SQL (you can debug query logic when needed).
</li></ul><ul><li>Experience working in agile, cross-functional teams (e.g., product, engineering, clinical).
</li></ul><ul><li>Familiarity with cloud data platforms (AWS, Databricks, etc.).
</li></ul><ul><li>Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and deliver iteratively.
</li></ul><ul><li>Solid understanding of data governance, including data quality, access control, and documentation.
</li></ul>Preferred
<ul><li>Experience in healthcare analytics (clinical, financial, or operational).
</li></ul><ul><li>Experience with migrating legacy dashboards to Sigma or similar modern tools.

 position will primarily support the educational endeavors of the Division of Rheumatology, Hospital for Special Surgery/Weill Cornell Medicine. In addition, there will be the opportunity to be involved with clinical research studies.
 
 
 
 Position Accountabilities
 
 
 
 <ul>

 Help coordinate multi-institutional education programs for medical students, residents and fellows at HSS, New York Presbyterian Medical Center and Weill Cornell Medicine.
 </li>
 <li>
 Work with the Rheumatology Program Director to prepare and coordinate the yearly Rheumatology Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (ROSCE)
 </li>
 <li>
 Function as the primary coordinator for CLASS-Rheum, a national internet-based epidemiology curriculum for rheumatology fellows, based at Hospital for Special Surgery
 </li>
 <li>
 Send out letters to study subjects inviting them to participate in studies
 </li>
 <li>
 Administer questionnaires to study subjects in person, by mail or by phone
 </li>
 <li>
 Act as a resource for study subjects regarding study consent forms
 </li>
 <li>
 Act as a liaison between physicians, physicians&rsquo; office staff and study participants
 </li>

 Coordinate study subjects visits with physician schedules

The Research Assistant will have access to the medical records of patients, and should appreciate this privilege, and maintain strict confidentiality with all patient medical data. The Research Assistant will also have good interpersonal skills, as he or she will be interfacing directly with patients on a routine basis.

Assist in the synchronization of research activities under the direction of the Director and serves as a liaison between the clinicians, research staff, and other research assistants. 
Provide overall administrative &amp; study specific support for research activities including but not limited to: providing timely reports to Director, Institutional Review Board, Principal Investigator, National Institutes of Health and/or sponsor for each research project as well as participating stakeholders.
