<div><p>The Howmet Structural Systems (HSS) Internship Program is strategically designed to provide you with the opportunity to utilize what you have learned in the classroom and the opportunity to participate in meaningful work and gain hands on industry experience. There will be many chances to network with like-minded professionals in manufacturing, industrial engineering, and beyond through cross-departmental collaboration.
</p><p>HSS is looking for a Procurement Engineering Intern for the summer of 2026 to help work on the Technical Procurement Team. Position will be working closely with Technical Procurement Director to help utilize engineering skills to analyze critical equipment across the Business Unit.
</p><p>The Procurement Engineering Intern will be responsible for:
</p><ul><li>Work on major equipment component 3D modeling, redesign, and FEA analysis on Hydraulic Forging Presses, Hydraulic Extrusion Presses, and Titanium Rolling Mills across Howmet&rsquo;s HSS locations.
</li><li>Support spare part analysis efforts.
</li><li>Support smart manufacturing by identifying equipment health sensors and technology partners.
</li><li>Support capital upgrades and technical RFQs (Request For Quotes) across businesses
</li></ul><p>Some travel within Ohio expected to Cleveland, Niles, and Canton locations .</p></div>
<br><div><ul><li><p>Must be enrolled in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Civil Engineering from accredited institution with an expected graduation date of Fall 2027, Spring 2028, Fall 2028, or Spring 2029
</p></li><li><p>Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher.
</p></li><li><p>Must be familiar with 2D drawing software (AutoCAD)
</p></li><li><p>Must be familiar with 3D modeling software (AutoCAD Inventor or Solidworks).

Procurement Engineering Intern

<div><div><div><div><div><p>Under the supervision of the Chief Product Metallurgist, the incumbent executes assigned projects and responsibilities. This position communicates with suppliers, customers, Production personnel, QA personnel, and development personnel. The incumbent may also be involved in material and process development programs under the direction of the Chief Product Metallurgist.

Under the direction of the Chief Product Metallurgist, this position may be accountable for:
</p><ul><li>Providing metallurgical control support for product and process activities relative to forgings
</li><li>Coordinating and conducting assigned development programs leading to improved products and processes
</li><li>Interfacing with customer representatives on Alcoa product and metallurgical quality issues
</li><li>Monitoring and interfacing with outside suppliers for compliance to stated requirements. Includes assigning, determining and providing for corrective actions as required
</li><li>Acting as a project manager for multifunctional teams on process improvement activities and new product qualifications
</li><li>Implementing and supporting continuous improvement and stability activities such as Process Management</li></ul></div></div></div></div></div>

Metallurgical Engineer Intern

<div><p>This position will assist engineering and manufacturing in driving improvements in quality and delivery performance through process control and improvement initiatives while allowing for development in teamwork, project management and Engineering. This position will also be involved in all aspects of the process, from concept/scope development, CAD drawings, work breakdown structures/project planning, to execution/installation.
</p><div>Duties and Responsibilities:
<br>
<ul><li>Learning Howmet&rsquo;s EHS systems and applying them to the manufacturing plant floor to improve safety and overall working conditions of the employees
</li><li>Observing the plant&rsquo;s operations in a specific assigned area, and working with a senior member of the engineering staff as a mentor to complete assigned tasks
</li><li>Attending daily management meetings representing the engineering department with project updates and/or receiving new jobs
</li><li>Investigate, design, engineer, justify and implement improvement activities
</li><li>Using AutoCAD or SolidWorks, complete drawing updates
</li><li>Providing engineering innovations that will increase reliability and availability of the plant facilities
</li><li>Working closely with Production, Planning, and other departments (Purchasing, Maintenance, or outside vendors) to plan work activities
</li><li>Performing root cause analysis with the goal to eliminate maintenance downtime
</li><li>Continuing to learn the craft of electrical engineering (project and reliability engineering)</li></ul></div></div>
