<div>SUMMARY

The Patient Services Representative serves as the primary point of contact for patients calling with medical concerns, administrative requests, and scheduling matters in a fast-paced call center environment. The person in this role is expected to have exceptional customer service abilities, strong scheduling judgment and decision making, and superb active listening and communications skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
<ul><li>Primarily answer incoming phone calls for multiple Primary Care practices.</li>
<li>Redirect calls for Specialty Departments when needed</li>
<li>Schedule routine and follow-up patient appointments</li>
<li>Reschedule or cancel appointments as needed</li>
<li>Confirm future appointments</li>
<li>Assist patients in reaching a clinician for their medical concerns and/or requesting a sick visit using a designated screening tool, including patients with urgent/critical medical concerns</li>
<li>Assist patients with prescription refill requests</li>
<li>Assist patients with referral requests</li>
<li>Provide general practice information for patients as needed</li>
<li>Responds to all patient and external customer requests via incoming phone call according to established processes and protocols and within established quality and performance metrics.
</li><li>Acts as a champion of the patient experience by striving for first call resolution with every patient interaction
</li><li>Other responsibilities as directed by supervisor, coordinator, or manager</li>

JOB REQUIREMENTS
<ul>
<li>High School Diploma or equivalent required</li>
<li>Ability to support patients using a calm demeanor, compassion, and empathy, including urgent/critical calls</li>
<li>Strong organizational skills</li>
<li>Excellent professional judgment, phone skills and decision making ability</li>
<li>Proficiency with Windows based computer applications</li>
<li>Flexibility and willingness to work as a team member</li>
<li>Able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks</li>
<li>Active listening skills</li>
<li>Ability to proficiently use telephone system</li>
<li>Excellent typing and computer ability while simultaneously maintaining a telephone conversation</li>

<li>On-site, in-person training is required for this position. Training is expected to take 3-4 weeks depending on experience</li>

Patient Services Rep | South Portland, ME | Full-Time

<div>CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
<ul>
<li>Contributes to the delivery of safe, efficient and quality patient care as delegated by the Registered Nurse (RN)</li>
</ul><ul><li>Prepares perioperative patient bays for patient care, including but not limited to donning linens to stretchers and recliners or operative beds</li>
</ul><ul><li>Assists with perioperative room turnover, cleaning, patient positioning, obtaining supplies/equipment and patient transportation for discharge.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Assists in operating room turnovers, including the restocking of anesthesia supplies</li>
</ul><ul><li>Obtains vital signs and Point of Care (POC) testing as delegated by RN, and is responsible for quality control for POC testing</li>
</ul><ul><li>Documents in the electronic medical record (EMR), as needed including but not limited to scanning documents and opening new medical records.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Assists in maintaining adequate inventory of all areas of the ASC, including unboxing and restocking of supplies, and monitoring expiration dates</li>
</ul><ul><li>Maintains and organizes linen inventory, transfers soiled linen to the designated area.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Assists in routine unit operations as directed/needed to assure smooth communication and functioning of the unit.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Follows universal precautions.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Completes incident reports per policy.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Cross trained to other specialties performed within the department including but not limited to covering in patient reception and the sterilization of instruments.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Maintains unit training requirements and attends staff meetings</li>
</ul><ul><li>Applies principles of infection control and safety, including proper handling, cleaning, and or disposal of equipment/supplies used in all cases.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Adheres to all InterMed and ASC policies and procedures.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Maintains strict confidentiality in alignment with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) guidelines and InterMed policies.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Perform other duties to support the mission, vision and values of InterMed.</li></ul>

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

<li>Education:</li>
</ul><ul><li>High school graduate or GED equivalent</li>
</ul><ul><li>License/Certifications:</li>
</ul><ul><li>Active unencumbered Maine Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification</li>
</ul><ul><li>Current BLS certification required.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Experience:</li>
</ul><ul><li>At least one year of CNA experience is required; previous experience in Ambulatory Surgery Center setting preferred.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Ability to differentiate between clean, contaminated, and sterile areas.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Proficient with Windows based computer applications and Electronic Medical Records</li>
</ul><ul><li>Accurate transcribing and data entry skills</li>
</ul><ul><li>Excellent typing and accurate documentation of patient encounter</li>
</ul><ul><li>Excellent communication skills and strong &ldquo;Customer Service&rdquo; orientation</li>
</ul><ul><li>Demonstrated ability to work independently with accuracy, in a fast-paced environment.</li></ul></div>
