InterMed, P.A. is the largest physician-owned primary care practice in Maine, founded in 1993. With 90 physicians and over 650 non-physician employees, it serves approximately 77,000 primary care patients across multiple locations in Portland, South Portland, and Yarmouth. The practice offers a range of specialty and ancillary services, including anti-coagulation, audiology, laboratory testing, radiology, and physical therapy. InterMed is dedicated to providing comprehensive care and operates a seven-day-a-week Urgent Care service for patients' convenience.

<div>SUMMARY: This role will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing front desk operations. Responsible for patient check in and check out, scheduling necessary follow up and ancillary appointments, payment collection, and maintaining accurate patient records. 


CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
<ul>
<li>Greet incoming patients using friendly, respectful communication</li>
<li>Obtaining and documenting up to date demographic information for patients, including updated insurance information, license information, etc.
</li><li>Accept patient payments and document accordingly</li>
<li>Familiar with payments required from patients enrolled in all insurance plans that InterMed participates with and collect necessary co-pays
</li><li>Maintain accurate transaction batches on credit card machine; balance cash drawer</li>
<li>Assist billing office with problem resolution as necessary</li>
<li>Notify clinical staff that patient has arrived via the EMR</li>
<li>Make patient aware of any unusual delay in their appointment time</li>
<li>Answer incoming telephone calls using proper telephone etiquette and prioritize telephone encounters appropriately.</li>
<li>Be familiar with forms necessary for patient appointments</li>
<li>To include scanning, printing, assembling, and mailing patient packets</li>
<li>Be familiar with computerized appointment scheduling system and schedule patients with all necessary follow-up and ancillary appointments</li>
<li>Monitor automated confirmation calls and update EMR</li>
<li>Maintains strict confidentiality in alignment with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) guidelines and InterMed policies.</li>
<li>Perform other duties to support the mission, vision and values of InterMed.</li></ul>
