Essential Job Summary::
The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the loading, pushing, and transferring of solid waste material in our transfer station. The ideal candidate will have the ability to completely maintain this transfer station in an efficient and professional manner. They will possess both a team work mentality as well as self-motivating traits.
Essential Job Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.:

Operate heavy duty equipment such as excavators and bucket loaders (yellow iron equipment), with various other small machinery</li><li>
Routinely set up and inspect equipment prior to operation</li><li>
Have knowledge of machine capabilities and limitations</li><li>
Observe hand signals, grade stakes, or other markings when operating machines to perform work duties in compliance of safety specifications</li><li>
Receive written and oral instruction regarding material movement</li><li>
Move materials over short distances, around facility</li><li>
Maintain an efficient flow by loading transfer trailers to target load weight and reduce traffic congestion</li><li>
Create and maintain inclines or ramps</li><li>
Repair machinery and replace parts as needed</li></ul><div>
Work Environment:
</div><ul><li>Daily exposure to physical environment including odors, loud noises, weather elements, etc.</li></ul>
Requirements and Qualifications::
<ul><li>Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.</li><li>
High school/GED education completed; higher education is a plus.</li><li>
Minimum 2 years&rsquo; experience as Equipment Operator required.</li><li>
Experience from the sanitation industry is strongly preferred.</li><li>
Fluency in English required, Spanish bilingual is a plus.</li></ul>

Experience as a Driver or Helper for a Refuge Company is Highly Preferred</li><li>
Working Knowledge of DOT, OSHA &amp; Applicable Traffic Regulations</li><li>
Ability to Speak &amp; Read English to Converse with the General Public, understand Highway Traffic &amp; Signals, Respond to Official Questions &amp; Make Legible Entries on Reports &amp; Records</li><li>

Driver pre and post inspections required. Drivers are responsible for ensuring their truck is in compliance with IWS&rsquo;s safety standards as well as OSHA and DOT regulations, and local traffic laws, prior to and while operating the vehicle.</li><li>
