Summary</b><p><br>
Performs respiratory therapy treatments, procedures, and tests such as floor therapy, oxygen administration, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and basic pulmonary function procedures.<br>
<br>
<b>Job Duties</b></p><ul><li>
Performs various therapeutic treatments and diagnostic procedures such as delivering aerosolized medications, MDI&rsquo;s, postural drainage with percussion, sputum induction&rsquo;s and incentive spirometry, pulse oximetry, and bedside pulmonary function screenings.</li>
<li>Repairs respiratory equipment or reports and delivers malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor as soon as a faulty piece of equipment is identified.</li>
<li>Provides respiratory care involving the application of well-defined therapeutic techniques under the supervision of a respiratory therapist and a physician.</li>
<li>Responds to cardiac/respiratory arrest throughout the hospital and initiates emergency oxygen therapy and ventilation appropriate for any given situation.</li>
<li>Monitors, receives, stocks, and distributes respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders.</li>
<li>Educates the patient and family about the patient's illness and provides information about community support groups and other resources.</li>
<li>Reviews patient charts and obtains order for oxygen therapy.</li>
<li>Reviews patient chart prior to initiating and providing therapy to verify pertinent information including medication, dose, and frequency.</li></ul><br>

Minimum Qualifications</b><ul><li>
Technical School Diploma in respiratory therapy
</li><li>1 year of clinical experience.
</li><li>Ability to recognize and detect technical equipment malfunction.
</li><li>Ability to maintain records of materials, supplies, time, and work performed.
</li><li>Knowledge of medical terminology.
</li><li>Skill in treating a variety of physical problems.
</li><li>Ability to remain patient and calm in stressful situations.
</li><li>American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
</li><li>CRT - Certified Respiratory Therapist NBRC - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
</li></ul><br>
<b>Physical Demands</b><p><br>
Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.<br>
