<div>Mission Summary

You will be responsible for power and signal distribution design for Autonomous Vehicles. We are looking for someone who is proficient in hardware design life cycle, comfortable working in a high paced environment, and someone who can adapt quickly. You will work cross functionally to gather details required for proper connections, generate system diagrams, electrical schematics, wiring harness diagrams, and assist with assembly and build documentation. You will also create detailed component and system qualification, validation test plans, and perform &amp; oversee testing.

We are looking for a detail-oriented problem-solver, able to employ critical thinking and time management skills and can work effectively both independently and in teams. Work with people of diverse backgrounds and develop creative and innovative ways to improve processes.

The Motional Pittsburgh office is located in the new Hazelwood Green development, a culmination of the city's goal of restoring an economic driver to the neighborhood in a thoughtful, inclusive, and sustainable way. With views along the Monongahela river, the Pittsburgh office is in the heart of this new state of the art development.

What you'll be doing:
<ul>
<li>Quickly gain a deep understanding of system architecture and specifications to implement the detailed electrical design of the AV system into a vehicle platform.</li>
<li>Work within an interdisciplinary team to troubleshoot, test, and fix electrical and system issues in prototype vehicles and test fixtures.</li>
<li>Support product design reviews.</li>
<li>Review internal and external requirements and specification documentation.</li>
<li>Perform worst case analysis and simulation to ensure compliance to system requirements.</li>
<li>Generate system diagrams, electrical schematics, wiring harness diagrams, and assist with assembly and build documentation.</li>
<li>Create detailed component and system qualification and validation test plans and perform / oversee testing.</li>
<li>Support EMC certification testing and develop and maintain electrical DFMEA.</li>
<li>Utilize structured problem-solving techniques for test failure resolution.</li>
</ul>
What we're looking for:
<ul>
<li>6+ years of experience in electrical engineering.</li>
<li>Ability to read and interpret schematics and assembly drawings.</li>
<li>Lab equipment experience with power supplies, oscilloscopes function generators and multimeters.</li>
<li>Familiarity with wire harness design process and software tools to help EE team design vehicle power and signal distribution</li>
<li>Ability to multitask across various project activities and work with a global team.</li>
<li>Ability to provide hands-on debugging as needed during testing and evaluation.</li>
<li>Experience with other vehicle communication networks (CAN, CAN-FD, Automotive Ethernet, LIN).</li>
<li>Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.</li>
<li>Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering</li>

Senior Electrical Engineer - Vehicle Platform Engineering

<div>Mission Summary:

Motional is currently seeking a Principal Engineer for our Compute Platform. This position requires an experienced professional with a background in complex automotive ECU designs and integration at an OEM / Tier 1 level. As we advance our mission to deliver safe, reliable and accessible self-driving cars, we are looking for exceptional engineering talent to help advance our strategies for comprehensive automated testing of autonomous vehicle (AV) technology.

What you'll be doing:
<ul>
<li>Owns the entire development lifecycle of high performance compute hardware from selection to end-of-life.</li>
<li>Lead and contribute to hardware engineering deliverables such as RFI, RFQ, HW specs, test plans, test reports, system integration plan for compute platform</li>
<li>Collaborate with the cross-functional teams to develop requirement specifications including functional and performance KPIs</li>
<li>Contribute to defining the system-level architecture, including requirements, interface control, and data flow.</li>
<li>Lead hardware and firmware development collaboration with the Tier-1 supplier</li>
<li>Works with suppliers and internal teams to ensure parts meet required specifications and performance standards.</li>
<li>Ensure that hardware meets specifications for performance, safety, and reliability.</li>
<li>Ensure that hardware comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.</li>
<li>Ensure that components meet cost targets for the overall product.</li>
</ul>
What we're looking for:
<ul>
<li>BS in Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience</li>
<li>Strong knowledge of state-of-the-art hardware systems, software tools and algorithms for interfaces required for sensors, actuators, firmware development, in-vehicle bus architectures, in-vehicle CPU/GPU computing platforms</li>
<li>Experience with computing architectures such as FPGAs, GPUs, MCUs, SoCs and their associated hardware computing platforms</li>
<li>Serial communication protocols, including SPI, CAN, Flexray, or Ethernet</li>
<li>Deep expertise in creating safe and efficient system architectures and complex hardware-software systems including knowledge of middleware implementation and testing</li>
<li>Knowledge of applicable safety standards including ISO 26262, Euro NCAP, FMVSS and other regulations, industry benchmarks and customer requirements</li>
<li>The ability to drive and manage complex projects according to program schedules within a fast-paced, dynamic environment</li>
<li>Experience with Polarion, JIRA, and Quality Management Systems</li>
</ul>
