Responsibilities
Details of Research Project:
This research project in the Sachs laboratory focuses on the development of integrated human organoid and organ-on-chip models that combine cardiac, hepatic, and hematopoietic compartments, to study drug responses and disease mechanisms. Experimental approaches include 3D culture systems, microfluidic platforms, advanced imaging, and quantitative computational analysis.
Technical Duties (include any protocols):
This position requires expertise in human pluripotent stem cell culture and differentiation, 3D organoid culture, and microphysiological systems. Techniques include flow cytometry and cell sorting, immunofluorescence and confocal microscopy, qPCR and RNA-based analyses, protein assays, and functional phenotyping of cardiac, hepatic, and hematopoietic tissues. Responsibilities also include experimental design, data analysis, troubleshooting complex multi-lineage systems, and contributing to protocol development and optimization. Interaction with bioengineering collaborators and operation of automated or semi-automated culture systems.

<div>Description
Working closely with the Administrative Director, the Administrative Manager is responsible for the oversight and supervision of approximately 35 administrative staff who support Hematology/Oncology faculty in both their clinical and academic roles. Administrative staff play a critical role in ensuring a positive patient experience outside of the clinical practice setting and in supporting faculty with operational, financial, and academic activities. 
The Administrative Manager ensures that administrative staff are appropriately trained, workflows are efficient, and policies and procedures are developed and maintained to support compliance, cross-coverage, and operational excellence. This role serves as the primary escalation point for complex administrative, operational, and personnel issues related to faculty administrative support. 
The Tisch Cancer Center is a vital component of the Icahn School of Medicine at the Mount Sinai Health System, one of the largest healthcare systems in the nation. As a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated cancer center, Tisch Cancer Center provides a multidisciplinary approach to cancer care, research, and education. 
Responsibilities
I. Clinical Practice Administration 
To facilitate a positive patient experience outside of the clinic setting and ensure compliance with all patient related regulations, the Administrative Manager is responsible for the following:<ul><li>
Work closely with physicians to understand individual practice styles, workflows, and logistical needs.</li><li>
Ensure that patient calls and correspondence to faculty offices are handled professionally, timely, and in compliance with all applicable regulations.</li><li>
Work with Oncology practice and nursing managers to develop/monitor policies that impact the practice setting such as renewal of medications, obtaining patient records from outside institutions, and facilitating ancillary testing.</li><li>
Ensure that administrative staff have appropriate access to medical records and are properly trained to upload relevant correspondence into the record</li><li>
Work with Hem/Onc&rsquo;s professional billing managers to develop guidelines regarding calls/correspondence from insurance companies or from patient&rsquo;s with insurance questions.</li><li>
Oversee physician coverage schedules to ensure reliable systems are in place to identify provider availability and clinical coverage.</li><li>
Ensure clinical faculty website profiles are accurate and up to date with respect to practice location, clinical focus, and insurance participation.</li><li>
Oversee after-hours call processes, including coordination with external answering services, and ensure coverage schedules are current, accurate, and accessible.</li><li>
Promote and encourage staff participation in customer service and patient experience training.</li></ul>
II. Financial and Academic Administration 
The Administrative Manager is responsible for ensuring that administrative staff supporting faculty are properly trained and consistently perform the following functions, many of which require the use of Mount Sinai&rsquo;s financial and administrative systems:<ul><li>
Coordinate faculty travel, including initiation of travel requests, arrangement of travel plans, and completion of expense reimbursements.</li><li>
Place and track purchases, including research and office supplies, ensuring appropriate fund usage and timely follow-up on delivery of items.</li><li>
Coordinate faculty meetings and events, including reserving conference rooms and arranging catering.</li><li>
Maintain and manage faculty academic calendars, accounting for clinical practice time and proactively communicating potential conflicts with faculty.</li><li>
Assist with the preparation of correspondence, presentations, and other documents, including maintaining up-to-date faculty CVs and NIH Biosketches.</li></ul>
III. Managerial Responsibilities 
The Administrative Manager is responsible for the direct management and supervision of administrative staff who assist faculty in their academic offices, including:<ul><li>
Monitoring attendance and punctuality</li><li>
Ensuring cross coverage of staff especially as it relates to patient care duties</li><li>
Onboarding and training new staff and providing ongoing training and professional development for existing staff.</li><li>
Conducting performance evaluations and providing regular feedback.</li><li>
Addressing performance issues and implementing disciplinary actions in accordance with institutional policies, when necessary.</li><li>
Identifying opportunities for workflow improvement, operational efficiency, and standardization of administrative processes.</li></ul>

Administrative Manager - Hematology & Medical Oncology

<div>Description
The Senior Buyer negotiates contractual arrangements between Mount Sinai Medical Center and selected vendors committing funds to ensure the procurement of high quality equipment, supplies and other products at optimum cost. Prepares and evaluates bids; awards contracts for large dollar relationships and purchases. Develops RFO's for specialized purchase situations, such as service agreements, capital purchases, etc. Negotiates for cost savings and other value-added benefits with every purchase opportunity. Utilizes PMM as the standard purchasing application with other appropriate protocols. 
Responsibilities
1.Maintains a relationship with vendors to ensure the procurement of high quality equipment and products, expedient delivery and reliable service at optimum prices.
2.Analyzes markets to determine vendors sources and product availability.
3.Develops bids for products, services and capital purchases according to purchasing policies and conventions. Reviews and awards contracts based on total value proposition of each relationship.
4.Prepares solicitations, evaluates, negotiates, and prepares award purchase contracts for the purpose of purchasing supplies, equipment and products within authorized purchasing limit. Secures supervisor&rsquo;s approval for purchases above authorized limit.
5.Manages all aspects of the contract process including price, freight terms, payment terms and rebates/credits.
6.Maintains familiarity with the U.S. General Purchasing Office (GPO) contracts and utilizes it to achieve the best possible contractual agreements. Collaborates with user departments to achieve volume commitments and standardization compliance.
7.Manages all aspects of the contract process including price, freight terms, payment terms, rebates/credits, etc. Strives to maximize ratio of contracts to non-contracted transactions to 90:10.
8.Recommends changes in methods and procedures to improve systems of procurement.

<div>Description
A Data Coordinator I position is currently available within the Multiple Myeloma (MM) research team at the Tisch Cancer Institute. The Data Coordinator reviews, extracts, cleans and audits data from various source documents so that the appropriate data can be shared. He/she also ensures the accuracy of the data and acts as a resource to all users of the database.

Data Coordinator I - Tisch Cancer Institute

For more than a decade, under the leadership of Chair Ash Tewari, MBBS, MCh, FRCS (Hon.), DSc (Hon.) the Department has significantly expanded its recruitment efforts of physician-scientists in the areas of prostate cancer, kidney cancer, bladder cancer, kidney stones, and endourology. Now more than ever, we are expertly equipped to address diagnostic and treatment challenges across the urologic spectrum.
Our research investigates some of the most critical urologic questions we face&mdash;including how to stage prostate cancer and develop truly personalized treatment regimens. This commitment to genomics studies has led to the establishment of new laboratories where research fellows and postdoctoral students engage in clinical trials and pre-clinical analyses. We continue to thrive on support through grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the nation&rsquo;s primary funder of medical research, as well as the Prostate Cancer Foundation, among other sources. 
Under limited supervision, the Associate Researcher II conducts experiments using advanced techniques specific to the research project. Analyzes and assists in interpreting moderately complex results.
