Summary 
The Premier Physician Network offers a variety of Nurse Practitioner positions with varying degrees of responsibility. Our Nurse Practitioners, in conjunction with the center's Physician/s and clinical staff, are responsible for exemplary patient primary health care and continuity of medical services under the direction of the supervising physician/s. Responsibilities will vary with each position, and also according to specialty; must be accessible to their physicians, staff and supervisors. 
Nature and Scope 
Knowledge of the professional medical practice to give and evaluate patient care. Skilled in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of medicine to provide ongoing patient care. Competent in taking medical history, assessing medical condition and interpreting findings. Ability to maintain quality assurance and quality control standards. Capable of reacting calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Excellent communication skill with both patients and colleagues are essential.

Qualifications 
 
1. Applicant must hold a Master&rsquo;s degree from an accredited NP program.
2. Applicant must be a certified NP (FNP). Current State of Ohio licensure is required and should be maintained at all times.
3. Certificate to Prescribe must be current and maintained at all times.
4. Applicants must have a minimum of five years of experience as a Registered Nurse; 1 year experience as a FNP preferred.
5. A thorough understanding of HIPAA law is required and professional discretion must be demonstrated at all times.
6. Applicant must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent communication skills with both patients and colleagues are essential.
7. Computer literacy is required and must include Excel, Word and Outlook, and Electronic Medical Records experience is an advantage, preferably EPIC.</div>

NP-PRIMARY CARE

Department: HV Interventional
Shift: 7PM-7:30AM/ 36 hours per week/ 72 hours per pay period
Facility: Miami Valley Hospital
A Patient Care Technician, or PCT, works with nurses and doctors to care for patients. Some of the tasks they do are<ul><li>
Check things like temperature, heartbeat, and breathing.</li><li>
Help patients move around, get dressed, and eat.</li><li>
Collect samples like urine.</li><li>
Report any changes in a patient's condition to a nurse.</li><li>
Help with patient walks, hygiene, weighing patients, vitals</li></ul>
The PCT works under the supervision of the nurse, which means the nurse makes sure they are doing things safely and correctly. Education: You'll need a high school diploma or GED.
Training: you'll need to get a BLS CPR certificate. If you don&rsquo;t already have it, they can teach you how to do CPR at your orientation too (so you don't need to do it beforehand).
Experience: No previous job experience is required, but you should have one of the following:<ul><li>
Finished STNA, CNA, or Patient Care Technician/Assistant training.</li><li>
Helped care for patients in the past 5 years (like taking their temperature, bathing them, or helping them use the restroom)</li><li>
Currently in nursing school and finished one clinical rotation.</li></ul>
Other Skills:<ul><li>
You can handle doing many things simultaneously, even when people interrupt you, and still be nice.</li><li>
You know how to use a computer.</li><li>
You're good at organizing things.</li><li>

PATIENT CARE TECH- Heart & Vascular Interventional

<div>Position: Patient Care Tech / Health Unit Coordinator 
Department: Inpatient Trauma Unit 
Shift: 7:00 am-7:30 pm Full Time 36 hours a week, 72 hours per pay period 
Facility: Miami Valley Hospital 
 
They collaborate with nurses and doctors to provide personalized care for patients. They can:<ul><li>
Check vital signs, such as temperature, heartbeat, and breathing.</li><li>
Help patients move around, get dressed, and eat.</li><li>
Collect samples like urine.</li><li>
Report any changes in a patient's condition to a nurse.</li><li>
Walks, ADLs, Weighing Patients; Vitals</li></ul>
The PCT works under the supervision of a nurse, who ensures they are performing tasks safely and correctly. Sometimes, the PCT may also be referred to as a Patient Care Technician/Unit Clerk (PCT/HUC). Like HUC, they assist with the paperwork and other tasks that keep the hospital running smoothly, which also helps patients receive the best care possible.
So, even though PCTs don't wear capes, they are essential members of the healthcare team who help patients feel better and recover their health.

Completion of previous STNA or CNA training or Patient Care Technician/Assistant training.</li><li>
Direct patient care experience within the last five years: Performing fundamental skills of vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) &amp; direct patient care activities, ie Bathing, turning/positioning, toileting</li><li>
Currently enrolled in nursing school and have completed at least one clinical rotation.</li></ul>
**Special Consideration: If the candidate has previous direct patient care experience, they may be excused from fundamental training (BCOP) upon completion of successful skills validation. This is instead of the above requirements. **

Patient Care Tech / Health Unit Coordinator (PCT/HUC) - Inpatient Trauma Unit

SUMMARY OF POSITION: 
The Patient Care Technician is employed by Miami Valley Hospital to enhance the nature and quality of patient care through a relationship with a Registered Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse. The Patient Care Technician assists the RN/LPN by performing assigned tasks for which he/she has been trained which facilitates direct care and the nursing process.
 
QUALIFICATIONS: 
High school diploma or equivalent REQUIRED
 CPR certification for the Healthcare Provider or Professional Rescuer (Adult, Child, Infant & AED) REQUIRED at time of hire.
 Is a state tested nursing assistant OR has successfully completed a NA course or state testing prep within the past six months (exception MVH employees who took the course prior to revision of this policy) OR: six months direct patient care experience in an acute care setting within the past three years.
