About This Role:</b></p><p>
Performs service desk duties such as checking materials in/out, issuing library cards, resolving library account issues, and helping patrons find materials.</p><p>
Responds to reference inquiries, such as answering questions related to materials covering patrons&rsquo; academic, professional, and personal interests.</p><p>
Responds to readers&rsquo; advisory requests (locating and requesting titles, authors, and read-alikes) both in person and over the phone.</p><p>
Regularly assists patrons in the use of copiers, printers, scanners, PCs, personal handheld devices, various software, and web applications.</p><p>
Spearheads keeping the branch&rsquo;s material collection in good order by running reports, responding to recall requests, rebalancing materials to other branches, performing light reprocessing and repairs, weeding materials for age and condition, and maintaining the Fortunate Finds selection.</p><p>
Assists with executing branch programming for all age groups.</p><p>
Makes creative contributions to library displays for all ages.</p><p>
Opens and closes the building.</p><p>
Reconciles register receipts and deposits.</p><p>
Manages the inventory of the Friends of the Library book sale.</p><p>
Acts as the Person in Charge of the building in the absence of manager,</p><p>
Attends various work group meetings, school visits, outreach events, library training sessions, and County professional development trainings.</p><p></p><p><b><br>
Minimum Requirements:</b></p><p>
High school diploma or G.E.D.</p><p></p><p><b><br>
Preferences:</b></p><p>
1 year customer service experience</p><p>
Experience working independently and as part of a team</p><p>
Scheduling flexibility</p><p>
Experience using technology such as PCs, tablets, smart phones, eReaders, copiers, printers, and Microsoft software</p><p>
Experience teaching others to use technology such as PCs, smart phones, and office machines</p><p>
Excellent written and oral communication skills</p><p>
Experience acting as Person in Charge or keyholder</p><p>
Experience with an Integrated Library System (ILS) or inventory tracking systems</p><p></p><p><b><br>

Work Schedule:</b></p><p>
This is a non-exempt 20 hour per week position. Scheduled hours will fall within the following times:</p><p>
Monday &ndash; Wednesday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Thursday &ndash; Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.</p><p></p><p><b><br>

Supervises staff, including scheduling staff, creating goals, and writing evaluations, managing employees to maximize performance, approving timecards, and facilitating the staff discipline process.</li><li>
Serves on the branch management team.</li><li>
Provides excellent customer service at an integrated service desk including patron accounts, game lounge, and room reservations.</li><li>
Manages the facility, community room reservations, opening and closing, and submits maintenance requests as the person in charge.</li><li>
Manages library programming for Youth and Adult Services. Manages the donations budget and makes program purchasing decisions.</li><li>
Serves as a branch liaison participating in policy and procedure improvements and revisions and special committee assignments.</li></ul><div></div><div><b><br>
Minimum Requirements:</b></div><div><ul><li>
Master&rsquo;s degree in library science from an ALA-accredited program</li><li>
Minimum of 2 years experience in a public library, to include 1 year in a supervisory role</li></ul></div><div></div><div><b><br>
Preferences:</b></div><ul><li>
2 or more years Supervisory experience to include scheduling, training, and personnel management.</li><li>
Experience planning, implementing, and evaluating high-impact programming and outreach initiatives for patrons of all ages.</li><li>
Excellent customer service skills including policy interpretation, public service, and managing difficult situations.</li><li>
1-year experience with collection management and development practices, ensuring the collection remains relevant and responsive to community needs.</li><li>
Experience in managing the day-to-day operations of a public library facility, including oversight of opening/closing procedures, coordinating maintenance requests, and providing procedural feedback.</li><li>
Experience with budget management, including monitoring expenditures, resource allocation, and providing financial forecasts for departmental services.</li><li>
Experience serving on a multi-department management team: collaborating on branch processes.</li></ul><div></div><div><b><br>

Work Schedule:</b></div><div>
This is a full-time, exempt 37.5 hours per week position. Hours are scheduled at Montclair Library Monday through Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The schedule includes days, one evening per week, and alternating Saturdays as assigned. Scheduling flexibility is imperative. Schedule may vary depending on the needs of the library.</div><div></div><div><b><br>
