Job Duties/Responsibilities:</div><div>
</div></div><br>
<div><li></li><div> Performs venipuncture, capillary, and related procedures, according to established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, on patients ranging in age from newborns to geriatrics</div></div><br>
<div><li></li><div> Performs venipuncture and skin punctures competently and expediently using aseptic technique</div></div><br>
<div><li></li><div> Follows established policy and procedures to collect Blood Cultures that minimize contamination</div></div><br>
<div><li></li><div> Properly labels all specimens, immediately after collection, at all times</div></div><br>
<div><li></li><div> Correctly distributes specimens to their respective areas for processing, testing, referral, or storage</div></div><br>
<div><li></li><div> Works within the Laboratory Information System to order tests, print labels, and generate completed reports</div></div><br>
<div><li></li><div> Performs Point-Of-Care Testing, as necessary</div></div><br>
<div><li></li><div> Follows established policy and procedures for safety and uses personal protective equipment correctly</div></div><br>
<div><li></li><div> Maintains the phlebotomy area, carts, and trays in a clean, well-stocked manner.</div></div><br>
<div><li></li><div> Interacts with co-workers, hospital staff, and medical staff in a courteous, professional manner</div></div><br>
<div><li></li><div> Performs other duties as assigned</div></div><br>

Education Experience:</div><div> HS Graduate or Equivalent</div></div><br>

Years of Related Experience:</div><div> &lt; 1 Year</div></div><br>

License/Certificate Required:</div><div> No</div></div><br>

Driver's License Required:</div><div> Yes</div></div><br>

<div><li></li><div> Positively identifies outpatients by checking two patient identifiers and provider order</div></div><br>
<div><li></li><div> Positively identifies inpatients by checking two patient identifiers with the patient's wristband</div></div><br>
<div><li></li><div> Washes hands, or uses hand sanitizer, before and after each patient contact</div></div><br>
<div><li></li><div> Disposes used needles in appropriate containers after use. Does not recap needles</div></div><br>
<div><li></li><div> Prioritizes work to achieve maximum efficiency and can adjust schedule to account for STAT's, and other priorities</div></div><br>
<div><li></li><div> Has a working knowledge on specimen requirements; tube types and minimum volumes</div></div><br>
<div><li></li><div> Observes Standard Precautions when collecting or handling patient specimens</div></div><br>

<div></div><div><div>Preferred Skills:</div><div>

<div><li></li><div> Completion of a Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant program Prior experience as a phlebotomist in a clinical setting</div></div></div></div>
