Salary range: $15/hour up to 20 hours/week plus 15% commission on all booked business (net) and 20% on new

This position supports the Springfield Rocks Media Group &amp; the Northampton Media Group.

Looking to make extra income while working on your own schedule? 
We&rsquo;re looking for a motivated, people-oriented salesperson to help local businesses &ndash; especially restaurants &ndash; bring in new customers.

This is a part-time, flexible role where you&rsquo;ll connect with business owners, introduce a simple marketing concept, and help them turn unused inventory (like gift certificates or experiences) into real growth and long-term customers.

You won&rsquo;t need to be a marketing expert &ndash; we&rsquo;ll show you how it works. What matters most is your ability to start conversations and build trust.

What You&rsquo;ll Do
<ul>
<li>Reach out to local businesses (primarily restaurants)</li>
<li>Set up quick conversations (in-person or phone)</li>
<li>Present a straightforward customer acquisition program</li>
<li>Help businesses launch offers that bring in new customers</li>
<li>Stay connected with clients and build relationships over time</li>
</ul>

We&rsquo;re looking for a dynamic, driven, and versatile media professional to serve as our Editor-in-Chief and On-Air Host, with an opportunity to do play-by-play sports coverage.

This is a unique, high-impact role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, community-focused environment and is passionate about local journalism across radio, digital, and social platforms.

Position Overview

This leadership role combines newsroom management, content creation, and on-air presence. You&rsquo;ll oversee editorial content for our digital platforms while also connecting with listeners on-air and in the community.

Key Responsibilities

Editorial Leadership
<ul>
<li>Oversee all content published on our digital news platform</li>
<li>Make final editorial decisions using strong, ethical news judgment</li>
<li>Serve as Editor-in-Chief, managing reporters and contributors</li>
<li>Lead daily news coverage, including breaking news and enterprise reporting</li>
<li>Produce and edit content for web, social, and on-air use</li>
<li>Create daily newsletters, push alerts, and top story updates</li>
<li>Use analytics and digital tools to guide content strategy</li>
</ul>
On-Air &amp; Content Creation
<ul>
<li>Host a daily on-air shift (afternoons)</li>
<li>Deliver local news updates and reports on-air</li>
<li>Represent the station at events, remotes, and in the community</li>
<li>Assist with commercial production and promotions</li>
</ul>
Sports Coverage (Preferred / Bonus Skillset)
<ul>
<li>Lead local high school sports coverage</li>
<li>Provide play-by-play for football and basketball</li>
<li>Produce pre-game and post-game shows</li>
<li>Coordinate with local schools and coaches</li>
</ul>
Team Leadership &amp; Collaboration
<ul>
<li>Lead weekly staff meetings and mentor newsroom team members</li>
<li>Assign and edit reporter content</li>
<li>Work closely with sales, broadcast, and digital teams</li>
<li>Contribute to sponsored and community-focused content initiatives</li>
</ul>
Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in journalism, communications, or related field preferred</li>
<li>3&ndash;5+ years of experience in journalism, broadcasting, or digital media</li>
<li>Strong writing, editing, and on-air skills</li>
<li>Leadership experience or readiness to step into a leadership role</li>
<li>Experience with digital platforms and content management systems</li>
<li>Social media proficiency and audience engagement skills</li>
<li>Sports play-by-play experience is a strong plus</li>
</ul>
