We are seeking a Senior Applications Engineer specializing in Solar and Storage String Inverters whose primary responsibility is serving as a technical product specialist for Residential, Commercial, and Small Ground Mount PV and Storage systems. This role supports customers across North America by analyzing system requirements, reviewing and proposing technical solutions for string and storage inverter applications, answering complex product questions, and supporting the sales organization through technical expertise. The position partners closely with internal teams and SMA headquarters in Germany and plays a key role in customer success, training, and market positioning.. 
 
Position is aligned to the U.S. Northeast region, with primary customer, partner, and sales support responsibilities focused on that geography.

PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

<li>Serve as a senior technical specialist for SMA America products and solutions, with a primary focus on solar string inverters and storage inverter systems, including PV system design and storage applications</li>
<li>Provide technical support to customers via phone, email, and face-to-face meetings, including joint customer visits when needed</li>
<li>Interpret customer, utility, and interconnection requirements and recommend appropriate SMA products and system solutions</li>
<li>Support customers and internal teams during the project design and technical evaluation process</li>
<li>Develop, maintain, and deliver internal and external technical training materials and sessions</li>
<li>Create and support technical sales materials used by the sales organization in customer engagements</li>
<li>Serve as a liaison between the U.S. sales organization and SMA technical teams in Germany</li>
<li>Conduct ongoing competitor and market analysis to support product positioning and technical differentiation</li>
<li>Gather and prioritize customer and market requirements and provide structured feedback to product management and engineering</li>
<li>Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market conditions, competitors, and applicable standards and regulations</li>
<li>Attend industry conferences, trade shows, and customer events as required</li>
<li>Perform other duties as assigned</li>
</ul>
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
<ul>
<li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent relevant industry experience</li>
<li>Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in technical sales, engineering, or service roles</li>
<li>Hands-on experience with solar PV systems, string inverters, or energy storage systems in a technical engineering or applications role</li>
<li>Strong written and verbal communication skills in English</li>
<li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint</li>
<li>High attention to detail with strong organizational and analytical skills</li>
<li>In-depth knowledge of solar PV systems, string inverters, power electronics, and storage solutions</li>
</ul>
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

<li>Familiarity with U.S. energy standards, codes, and utility interconnection requirements</li>
<li>Experience supporting customers across residential, commercial, and small ground mount applications</li>

POSTITION OVERVIEW
<ul>
<li>We are seeking a Director of Technical Support to lead SMA America&rsquo;s Technical Support function for the Large-Scale segment. This role is accountable for delivering expert-level technical solutions to customers and internal field service teams, ensuring high-quality diagnostics, efficient resolution of equipment failures, and consistent escalation management across North America.</li>
<li>The Director of Technical Support serves as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues impacting customer satisfaction and field performance. This leader works closely with Engineering, R&amp;D, and Quality teams at SMA headquarters to resolve regional technical issues, identify recurring failure patterns, and drive continuous improvement across SMA&rsquo;s inverter and communication product portfolio.</li>
<li>This position follows a hybrid work model for local candidates, with in-office collaboration, and is remote for non-local candidates, requiring the ability to effectively support field operations and partner with cross-functional teams across regions. The role plays a critical leadership function within SMA&rsquo;s Service &amp; Operations organization, partnering closely with Field Service Operations and Service Quality to build a proactive, customer-centric technical support model and ensure support readiness for new product introductions.</li>

PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead Technical Support and Troubleshooting
<ul>
<li>Lead and develop Level 1, 2, and 3 Technical Support teams supporting the Large-Scale segment across North America</li>
<li>Serve as the primary escalation point for complex technical challenges impacting customer satisfaction or field performance</li>
<li>Ensure effective coordination between Technical Support, Field Service Operations, and Customer Service to deliver rapid and accurate diagnostics</li>
<li>Establish, track, and report KPIs including case resolution time, first-call resolution rate, and field escalation efficiency, driving continuous improvement</li>
</ul>
Collaboration with R&amp;D, Engineering, and Quality
<ul>
<li>Collaborate with R&amp;D, Engineering, and Quality teams at SMA headquarters to escalate, analyze, and resolve recurring issues, failure trends, or design-related defects</li>
<li>Provide technical leadership in root cause analysis and contribute to product improvement feedback loops</li>
<li>Own and maintain a robust technical knowledge base to support onboarding, training, and diagnostic consistency</li>
</ul>
New Product Introduction and Support Readiness
<ul>
<li>Participate in new product introduction planning to ensure technical support readiness and field serviceability</li>
<li>Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure new products are supported with appropriate tools, documentation, and processes</li>
</ul>
Product Behavior and Technical Leadership
<ul>
<li>Act as the voice of Technical Support for customer escalations, executive briefings, and internal leadership forums</li>
<li>Partner closely with the Director of Field Service Operations and Service Quality to build a proactive and customer-centric service organization</li>

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

<li>Associate&rsquo;s degree in a technical or electrical field is required</li>
<li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in a technical field or business is preferred</li>
<li>Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical product support</li>
<li>Phone-based technical support experience is required</li>
<li>Experience supporting inverter and communication products</li>
<li>Strong written and verbal communication skills in English</li>

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Director of Large Scale Regional Sales (East Coast) to lead and develop a regional sales team responsible for achieving both team and individual revenue targets across the East Coast territory. This position owns all sales-related decisions within the region, ensuring alignment with overall company strategy and driving consistent execution across utility-scale solar and energy storage solutions. The Director of Large Scale Regional Sales (East Coast) serves as a critical link between the regional team and SMA America by fostering communication, accountability, and high performance.

This role reports directly to the VP of Large Scale Sales and follows a fully remote work model. Candidates must be based in or have deep market familiarity with the East Coast region.

PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

Regional Sales Leadership
<ul>
<li>Develop and execute the regional go-to-market strategy for utility-scale solar solutions including hardware, EPC, project development, and full-scope services across the East Coast territory</li>
<li>Own quarterly and annual sales targets across the region</li>
<li>Drive strategic engagement with key accounts including utilities, IPPs, developers, and EPC firms</li>
<li>Oversee the full sales cycle from lead generation and qualification through proposal, negotiation, and contract execution</li>
<li>Support the team in navigating complex utility-scale project sales including multi-party negotiations</li>
</ul>
Team Management and Development
<ul>
<li>Lead, coach, and develop a team of regional sales professionals, conduct regular performance reviews, and support professional development plans</li>
<li>Set clear goals, KPIs, and performance expectations for direct reports</li>
<li>Foster a high-performance, accountable, and collaborative sales culture</li>
</ul>
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Market Intelligence
<ul>
<li>Ensure CRM (Salesforce) is accurately maintained with up-to-date pipeline data</li>
<li>Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Product, Engineering, Finance, Legal, Service, and Project Management to ensure customer requirements are met</li>

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

<li>Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Renewable Energy, or equivalent experience required</li>
<li>Minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in B2B sales, with at least 5 years in utility-scale solar or renewable energy</li>
<li>Minimum 2 years of experience leading and mentoring successful sales teams</li>
<li>Proven track record managing large, complex customers in cross-functional matrix environments with lengthy design, qualification, and project sales cycles across multiple decision-makers</li>
<li>Solid knowledge of the solar industry including both PV and energy storage</li>
<li>Deep understanding of utility-scale project development cycles, PPAs, grid interconnection, and capital structures</li>
<li>Experience developing and executing business models and selling to executive-level clients</li>
<li>Experience understanding financial models and customer financial decision-making criteria</li>
<li>Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills</li>
<li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Salesforce or equivalent CRM</li>
<li>Strong written and verbal communication skills in English</li>
<li>Willingness to travel regionally 30 to 50%</li>
