 Specialized law enforcement work involving a variety of State Police roles, determined in accordance with areas to be covered, specific skill requirements, depth of functional involvement, special unit needs, department staffing levels, and law enforcement priorities. Incumbents are expected to exercise a high level of initiative, judgment and discretion within the broad limits of regulations, policies, and procedures. Temporary assumption of patrol commander, special investigator, training instructor, or special unit roles may be required. Periodic supervision over lower level Troopers may occur. Duties are performed under direction of a higher level officer. Movement into the class requires a current performance evaluation of satisfactory or better, except in demotion situations.

 Basic requirements for admission to the Vermont State Police include:

The applicant must have uncorrected vision not worse than 20/200 (Snellen) and corrected 20/20 in one eye and not worse than 20/40 in the other eye. Contact lens wearers must have 20/20 corrected vision and have worn contact lenses successfully for a minimum of one year. If an applicant has had laser eye corrective surgery and meets the above criteria, a six month waiting period is required before beginning the Academy. All candidates must pass a color vision test.

The Human Services Board is currently seeking a new Administrative Services Technician IV to provide support to our team. This position is based at our main office in Montpelier, VT. The Human Services Board receives, schedules and hears appeals from certain programs within the Agency of Human Services. This position mainlyprovides high level clerical support - including appeal intake, editing memoranda and recommended orders, drafting form letters and hearing notices, filing, copying, mailing, and having phone/email contact with the public/appellants, administrative staff, and hearing officers. You will have frequent contact with members of the public, board members, and attorneys.<br>
Ideal candidates for this position will have some experience working in a law office or similar environment and strong editing and proofreading skills. You should also be a strong communicator, both over the phone and in writing. Good computer skills and familiarity with MS Outlook email and calendaring, as well as a working knowledge of MS Word and Excel, are needed. The Board's case management system runs on a Salesforce platform; while this position requires becoming familiar with this system, previous experience with Salesforce is not required.<br>
This position reports directly to our Legal Hearing &amp; Support Specialist and will work closely with other staff as well. The position is based on-site but with some potential for partial remote work.</div></div></div><div><div><div><b>

Job Summary</b><br>
An Emergency Communications Dispatcher (ECD) receives voice and text requests for police, fire, and medical services. The incumbent in this position determines the nature, urgency, and jurisdiction of a report and either dispatches first responders or transfers the call to the appropriate jurisdiction. The ECD documents information in Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) software and provides updates via phone or radio as needed. The ECD provides guidance and assistance to the public in life-safety situations; and coordinates appropriate responses to high-risk, high-stress operations, with the objective of keeping all participants safe.</div><br>
