The START Center for Cancer Research is seeking an Infusion Nurse
 
who will be responsible for providing direct patient care to individuals who are participants in research protocols that are conducted at START. The Infusion 
Nurse uses appropriate professional judgment and decision-making in planning and providing care. Nursing care is to be delivered in a manner consistent with the Standard Operating Procedures and standards of practice, and professional evidence-based standards.

Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:00pm 
Essential Responsibilities

Patient Care
<ul>
<li>Administer chemotherapy/immunotherapy/investigational agent to participants (inclusive of parenteral) according to the protocol and applicable regulations.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Perform study-related activities including but not limited to venipuncture, obtaining blood specimens, IV insertion, and venous access device (central line) management, ECG collection, and vital signs.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Collect biological samples according to the protocol and Standard Operating Procedures.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Educate, explain, and inform participants of study procedures.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Record data obtained according to the protocol and Standard Operating Procedures.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Use nursing assessment skills to observe participant general well-being and potential adverse events. Document events and take appropriate action as needed.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Respond to emergency situations based upon nursing standards.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Provide patient education regarding participation in a clinical trial, chemotherapy/immunotherapy/investigational agent administration and potential side effects.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Ensure that the dignity, health, safety, and welfare of participants are given the highest priority at all times.</li></ul>

Protocol Management tasks

<li>Work with study team to ensure that study related procedures, drug administration, labs, vital signs and ECG are completed.</li></ul> 


Technical and Quality Tasks

<li>Use skills, knowledge, nursing diagnosis, and clinical judgement in order to provide a high standard of care for participants in clinical trials.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Remain current with appropriate emergency certifications and company emergency policy and procedures.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Able to work effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines, high volumes and multiple interruptions.</li>

Required Education and Experience:
<ul>
<li>High School Diploma or GED.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Licensed Registered Nurse in practicing state.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, and AHA certified program.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Previous experience in peripheral IV insertion and management of venous access device(s).</li></ul> 


Preferred Education and Experience:

<li>1 year of experience.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN).</li>

Infusion Nurse

<div>The START Center for Cancer Research (&ldquo;START&rdquo;) is the world&rsquo;s largest early phase site network, fully dedicated to oncology clinical research. To date, over 45 therapies conducted at START locations have obtained FDA/EMA approval. 
The START Center for Cancer Research is seeking a Director, Investigational Drug Section who is responsible for overseeing all components of IDS operations at the assigned site. Additionally, the director should fulfill all existing clinical pharmacist job duties. This includes all facets of medication order verification, dispensing and documentation process for investigational drugs, conventional chemotherapy and supportive care medications provided by the IDS. The pharmacist may be involved in the provision of pharmaceutical care including assisting with patient interviews, maintenance of current medication lists, providing patient medication education, providing drug information to the healthcare team and patients. The pharmacist will practice with a high degree of autonomy, guided by IDS SOPs and quality assurance verification guidelines. This role is responsible for the daily supervision of staff assigned to medication preparation, dispensing, and operation of the IDS in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations. The director will serve as a direct supervisor to all site-specific pharmacy team members including other pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. 
Essential Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Partner with Director, Nursing and study operations leader to ensure efficient, high quality 
patient care is maintained and prioritized</li>
</ul><ul><li>Collaborate with site leadership team, shared services leaders and integration team members to promote alignment in workflows and processes</li>
</ul><ul><li>Ensure adherence to all local/federal expectations for IDS space, ensure compliance with all applicable internal SOPs</li>
</ul><ul><li>Verify medication orders including accuracy of dosages and calculations, review of basic patient eligibility criteria, including but not limited to accurately signed / dated study consent form(s), laboratory values within treatment criteria, all appropriate tests have been completed, resolution of known toxicity from previous chemotherapy, and an absence of serious known drug interactions.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Oversee the preparation and dispensing of all medications from the IDS, including supervision of certified pharmacy technicians during preparation of IV admixtures and oral medication dosages, insuring compliance with all steps of the double-check verification process prior to releasing dosages from the IDS.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Provide pharmaceutical care including patient medication and supportive care counseling, and drug information to the healthcare team and patients.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Oversee drug inventories including documentation of current inventory, projection of expected usage in concert with ordering, receiving, storage and dispensation tracking of Phase I and conventional medications.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Assist pharmacy technicians in maintaining adequate investigational documentation, records, weekly inventory, and interactions with study personnel</li>
</ul><ul><li>Review new protocol(s), protocol amendments and associated forms.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Maintain and generate reports using the IDS drug accountability program.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Contribute to the effective operation of the pharmacy department. Enter accurate medication computer order entries and accurate maintenance of reported patient home medications in the EMR.</li></ul> 


Required Education and Experience:
<ul>
<li>Graduate of an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Current State license.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Previous hospital/clinic pharmacy experience.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Familiarity with sterile compounding requirements for chemotherapy agents, USP&lt;797&gt;, USP&lt;800&gt;, laminar airflow hood(s) / biological safety cabinet(s); telephone and copier / scanner / facsimile machine.</li>

Office products, including Word, Excel, Power Point and Access.</li>

Director of Nursing & Study Operations

The START Center for Cancer Research is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator, RN who will work under the guidance of senior research staff to support the daily activities of early phase oncology clinical trials. The CRC, RN ensures the accurate and timely conduct of clinical research, adhering to protocols, regulatory requirements, and patient safety standards. This role involves direct patient interaction, data collection, and maintaining compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP). The Clinical Research Coordinator will be assigned multiple protocols at any time for which they will oversee the aspects of assigned protocols with planning and coordinating patient participation in the trial. Also, this role is responsible for implementation as well as completion of protocol specific requirements, providing accurate, up to date information to all team members involved with any aspect of carrying out protocol specific requirements.

Essential Responsibilities<ul><li>
Communicate on a regular basis with Study Sponsor&rsquo;s, CRO&rsquo;s, staff, etc. regarding questions, concerns, as well as status of the protocol.
</li><li>Monitor the overall day-to-day conduct of assigned studies in accordance with the specified protocol requirements, Standard Operating Procedures, and Good Clinical Practice to ensure integrity regarding all aspects of the study.
</li><li>Create/review forms created or revised for assigned trials to assure protocol compliance.
</li><li>Maintain files using standardized study document labeling and filing procedures.
</li><li>Implement initial protocol and amendments, training staff who will be involved in patient treatment and management.
</li><li>Maintain an up-to-date contact list.
</li><li>Assist with patient screening and determination of eligibility.
</li><li>Facilitate the informed consent process ensuring that consent is appropriately completed.
</li><li>Prepare and manage source documents according to standard operating procedures.

Clinical Research Coordinator, RN

<div>The START Center for Cancer Research (&ldquo;START&rdquo;) is the world&rsquo;s largest early phase site network, fully dedicated to oncology clinical research. Throughout our history, START has provided hope to cancer patients in global community practices by offering access to cutting edge trials throughout the US and Europe. Today, with over 1,300 studies completed, and with research facilities in the United States and in Spain, Portugal, and Ireland, START&rsquo;s mission is to accelerate the development of new anticancer drugs that will improve the quality of life and survival for patients with cancer and lead to its eventual cure. To date, over 43 therapies conducted at START locations have obtained FDA/EMA approval. Incredibly, while Academic Medical Centers (AMCs) conduct 80% of cancer trials, such trials reach only 20% of the patient population &ndash; leaving the majority of patients who are treated in community practices and hospitals without access to a clinical trial when their care journey calls for one. START serves the many &ndash; by bringing cancer trials to physicians and their patients in community hospitals and practices when hope is needed most.

We are hiring a motivated Clinical Data Entry Coordinator for our Grand Rapids, MI location, who will collect, enter/transcribe, and transmit/submit clinical data for assigned investigational drug studies.
Essential Responsibilities<ul><li>
Collect, enter/transcribe, and transmit/submit clinical data in paper and/or electronic case report forms (CRFs), including correction and query resolution for assigned investigational drug studies.</li><li>
Receive and request patient records/data from the study team as required to complete CRFs for assigned studies.</li><li>
Review patient data for completeness and accuracy for assigned studies.</li><li>
Coordinate and schedule monitor visits for assigned studies. This includes exit meetings with monitors to review data or queries.</li><li>
Identify lab facilities used for assigned studies and communicate to the Regulatory Affairs staff so that lab certifications can be requested for the study file.</li><li>
Review and utilize protocols as guides for study activities for assigned studies.</li><li>
Assure that data entry remains current for all assigned studies.</li><li>
Attend meetings as required for assigned studies. This includes, but is not limited to, site initiation meetings, monitor exit meetings, close-out visit meetings, and audit preparation meetings.</li><li>
Be available and on-site, if required, during audits for assigned studies.</li><li>
Communicate as needed with accounts receivable staff regarding submitted data.</li></ul>
Education &amp; Experience<ul><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree or equivalent experience in lieu of degree.</li><li>
Knowledge and training in general office administration skills, including computer applications, filing systems, etc.</li></ul>
Preferred Education and Experience<ul><li>
Ability to accurately perform data review and CRF completion in its entirety with minimal direction.</li><li>
Familiarity with medical terminology.</li><li>
Additional demonstration of clinical research knowledge as evidenced by the use of either CCRP or CCRC credentials is highly desirable.</li></ul>
