The Web Content Specialist will provide web content management, editorial, training, and digital content support for FHWA and RD&amp;T websites, SharePoint sites, Google Sites, intranet pages, and related online platforms. This role is responsible for writing, editing, maintaining, uploading, and quality-checking web content to ensure accuracy, accessibility, usability, and alignment with agency style and branding requirements.</p><p>
The successful candidate will have strong experience with content management systems, web writing, online publishing, Section 508 accessibility, SEO, content quality control, and web page maintenance. This is not a technical programming role, but it does require strong comfort working in CMS platforms and graphical user interfaces.</p><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
Key Responsibilities</b></h2><ul><li>
Draft, revise, edit, and finalize web content for FHWA RD&amp;T websites, databases, intranet pages, SharePoint sites, Google Sites, and related online platforms.</li><li>
Use content management systems to upload, maintain, update, and post approved content.</li><li>
Write and edit web pages, web articles, database text fields, user manuals, training materials, online help content, and web-related communications products.</li><li>
Optimize online content for readability, audience engagement, searchability, and SEO.</li><li>
Ensure all web pages and online content comply with Section 508 accessibility requirements.</li><li>
Write and revise alternative text for images, graphics, and other non-text elements.</li><li>
Coordinate web content reviews and approvals with FHWA points of contact, web managers, program offices, legal reviewers, public affairs staff, and external stakeholders when needed.</li><li>
Monitor web pages to ensure updates are posted on schedule and recommend improvements to readability, organization, navigation, and usability.</li><li>
Support quarterly certification processes to confirm that web content is current and accurate.</li><li>
Check and fix broken links, formatting issues, outdated information, and other web maintenance items.</li><li>
Use graphic applications to crop, recolor, resize, and manipulate web images as needed.</li><li>
Provide outreach training, user training, and support materials related to web content processes and tools.</li><li>
Coordinate content processes, procedures, workflow improvements, and documentation.</li></ul>
Requirements:
<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in English, Communications, Marketing, Business, Journalism, or a related discipline.</li><li>
5&ndash;7 years of experience in web content management.</li><li>
At least 3 years of recent web content management experience within the last 5 years.</li><li>
Experience writing and editing web content, training materials, documentation, and digital communications.</li><li>
Experience using content management systems to upload, maintain, and post content.</li><li>
Knowledge of Section 508 accessibility requirements for web and digital content.</li><li>
Experience performing content quality control and data/content review.</li><li>
Ability to use presentation tools and provide training or outreach support to staff.</li></ul><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
Preferred Qualifications</b></h2><ul><li>
Experience supporting FHWA, USDOT, TFHRC, or another federal agency.</li><li>
Experience with Drupal, SharePoint, Google Sites, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, or similar web/collaboration platforms.</li><li>
Transportation, highway, surface transportation, research, science, engineering, or technical communications experience preferred.</li><li>
Familiarity with web content databases, online records, metadata, and public release workflows.</li><li>

The CG Business Intelligence Systems Technical Training Specialist provides training, outreach, instructional design, and user support services in support of the U.S. Coast Guard's Business Intelligence Systems Program. This position is responsible for developing and delivering training programs, supporting end users, creating instructional materials, and promoting adoption of Coast Guard business intelligence, reporting, analytics, and data visualization tools throughout the organization.</p><p>
The Specialist works directly with military and civilian personnel at all levels of the Coast Guard, providing technical instruction, system support, communications assistance, and outreach activities that improve user proficiency and enhance mission effectiveness through data-driven decision making.</p><p>
The position requires independent performance of assigned duties, strong communication and presentation skills, and the flexibility to support a demanding nationwide travel schedule.</p><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
Key Responsibilities</b></h2><h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
Technical Training Delivery</b></h3><ul><li>
Deliver instructor-led classroom training, virtual training sessions, workshops, webinars, and one-on-one support related to Coast Guard Business Intelligence Systems.</li><li>
Provide functional and technical instruction on business intelligence tools, reporting platforms, analytics capabilities, and data visualization solutions.</li><li>
Conduct targeted virtual support sessions using approved Coast Guard collaboration tools, including Microsoft Teams.</li><li>
Adapt training delivery methods to meet the needs of diverse user groups and mission requirements.</li></ul><h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
User Support &amp; Outreach</b></h3><ul><li>
Provide direct support to Coast Guard personnel utilizing business intelligence systems and reporting tools.</li><li>
Assist users with troubleshooting system issues, understanding functionality, and maximizing system capabilities.</li><li>
Participate in outreach activities designed to increase awareness, adoption, and effective utilization of Coast Guard Business Intelligence Systems.</li><li>
Support stakeholder engagement efforts across Coast Guard operational and support commands.</li></ul><h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
Curriculum Development &amp; Instructional Design</b></h3><ul><li>
Develop, update, and maintain training materials using the Instructional Systems Design (ISD) model.</li><li>

Promote best practices for data analysis, reporting, and information sharing.</li><li>

Communications &amp; Knowledge Management</b></h3><ul><li>
Assist with development and maintenance of communications materials supporting Business Intelligence Systems initiatives.</li><li>
Support management of SharePoint content, training resources, and outreach materials.</li><li>
Participate in meetings, working groups, demonstrations, and stakeholder engagement events.</li><li>

Travel &amp; Field Support</b></h3><ul><li>
Travel extensively to Coast Guard locations nationwide to conduct training and outreach activities.</li><li>

Maintain flexibility to support changing travel schedules and operational requirements.</li><li>
Represent the Coast Guard Business Intelligence Systems Program in a professional manner during field engagements.</li></ul>
Requirements:
