About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you&rsquo;ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in San Francisco, CA
Details:<ul><li>
In-Person Tutoring in San Francisco, CA</li><li>
Schedule: 20 hours a month; 3 days a week 1.5 hours</li><li>
Rate ranges from $25-$35 per hour</li></ul>
Ideal Candidate:<ul><li>
Experience working with students with autism and speech/language impairments
</li><li>Background supporting upper elementary students in reading, writing, and math
</li><li>Strong knowledge of reading fluency, comprehension, and spelling development
</li><li>Experience supporting writing skills, including sentence structure, organization, and grammar
</li><li>Familiarity with foundational math concepts, including multiplication, division, and word problems
</li><li>Experience incorporating Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), communication, and self-advocacy skills into instruction
</li><li>Understanding of gestalt language processing and use of multi-modal teaching strategies
</li><li>Skilled in using visual supports, video-based learning, and interactive instruction
</li><li>Patient, engaging, and energetic (&ldquo;bubbly&rdquo;) personality
</li><li>Ability to maintain attention through structured, engaging, and varied activities</li></ul>
Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Provide individualized instruction in reading fluency and comprehension using guided reading, repetition, and visual supports
</li><li>Support comprehension skills, including summarizing, answering questions, and identifying key ideas
</li><li>Reinforce spelling and vocabulary retention using multi-sensory and contextual learning strategies
</li><li>Support writing development, including sentence formation, organization, grammar, and typing skills
</li><li>Deliver math instruction focused on multiplication, division, and word problem-solving strategies
</li><li>Incorporate SEL, communication, and self-advocacy skills into daily instruction
</li><li>Use multi-modal strategies (visuals, videos, songs, interactive activities) to support engagement and learning
</li><li>Implement structured sessions with clear routines, frequent breaks, and varied activities to maintain focus
</li><li>Prioritize homework completion, followed by enrichment and review activities
</li><li>Incorporate student interests (e.g., vehicles, cartoons, animals, music, iPad activities) to increase motivation and participation
</li><li>Maintain a supportive, engaging, and structured learning environment
</li><li>Communicate progress with caregivers and adjust instruction as needed</li></ul>

 At least a Bachelor's degree

 Ability to make learning fun and interactive, with the focus of the tutoring often determined by student questions and comments

 <li>
 Ability to pass a background check if required
 </li>
 <li>
 This is a contract job, with opportunities for additional tutoring/virtual instruction thereafter. Tutors and teachers on our platform systematically receive opportunities as they come in based on experience, subjects offered, availability, etc.
