Purpose: 
Provide authority, responsibility and accountability for the accurate performance of laboratory testing of a routine and advanced nature. These tests are used in the diagnosis and treatment of patients and in the evaluation of a patient&rsquo;s response to treatment. Apply competent clinical knowledge to achieve accurate clinical testing which leads to quality patient care outcomes.
Responsibilities: 
<ul><li>Interact with all laboratory customers courteously and professionally; respond to telephone inquiries in a timely manner. Practices pleasant communications both internally and externally.</li>
<li>Adhere to established laboratory and hospital policies in areas of procedures, methods, quality control, quality assurance, safety, compliance, and personnel policies. Follow established procedures for the collection (including phlebotomy, as required) and processing of specimens for analysis including the appropriateness and stability of the sample. Perform qualitative and quantitative analytical procedures according to established protocols with precision and accuracy in a timely and efficient manner.</li>
<li>Recognize critical, abnormal, and unacceptable test results and follow-up according to established protocols. Recognize factors that affect measurements and results and initiate the necessary corrective action according to established protocols. Identify problems with instrumentation, methodology, specimens, supplies, or results and act as outlined in predetermined protocols.</li>
<li>Operate and maintain equipment within the scope of training utilizing defined schedules and written instructions to perform quality control checks, preventive maintenance, and calibration. Perform minor repairs. Use reagents and supplies cost-effectively; monitor and maintain an appropriate supply inventory.</li>
<li>Maintain in-depth knowledge of techniques, principles, and instruments, their interrelationships and physiological conditions affecting test results.</li>
<li>Conduct, direct, or assist with test development and methodology/equipment evaluation, selection, and implementation.</li>
<li>Performs High Complexity Testing (as defined by PA DOH) without direct supervision.</li>
<li>Assume responsibility for first-line supervision of the section/department temporarily as delegated.</li>
<li>Train and orient new employees, students, and residents, as applicable and as assigned.</li>

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university AND successful completion of a CAHEA accredited Medical Lab Scientist program, OR Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university with a major in biological, chemical, or clinical laboratory science AND ASCP or equivalent categorical or MLT certification, OR Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university with a major in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science AND at least two years&rsquo; experience in a role equivalent to that of a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) in a clinical laboratory.
Prefer 1 year experience in a hospital laboratory.
Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory information systems preferred.
Licenses and Certifications Notes:
Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) (ASCP) or equivalent certification preferred. New York License required for NY locations.
Medical Laboratory Technician Requirements
Associate&rsquo;s degree in a laboratory science with certification (or eligible new graduate) from an accredited institution as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), OR Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution with a major in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science, with 6 months of clinical laboratory experience OR equivalent education and experience as defined by CLIA &rsquo;88 for individuals performing high complexity testing.
Minimum 1-year&rsquo;s experience in a hospital laboratory preferred.
Familiarity with medical terminology and laboratory information systems preferred.
Licenses and Certifications Notes:

<div><div>UPMC Corporate is hiring an Internal Communications Specialist II to join our Public Relations department as part of the Internal Communications team and supports our employee news processes and physician communication. This is a hybrid role at the U.S. Steel Tower in downtown Pittsburgh with three in-office days a week (flexible M-R).
Note: UPMC Internal Communications facilitates staff-facing communications; this is not a marketing, media relations, or external public relations position that oversees public-facing communications.
This position&rsquo;s focus is two-fold: driving the internal news channels that serve as UPMC Internal Communications primary push communications to our 96,000+ employees and supporting communication projects for physicians. The Communications Specialist II will be responsible for contributing to all aspects of creating our digital news products, with a focus on editing copy for style, clarity, and content and also managing, editing, and building communications using our email and intranet platforms. In collaboration with other members of the team, this role will include managing the department&rsquo;s editorial calendar, contributing to overall departmental news strategy, and leading efforts to provide timely reporting on news channel analytics and audience engagement data. This team member will also work closely with other members of the UPMC Internal Communications team to support various communications projects for internal physician-related clients, including writing, editing, design, client management, project tracking and more.

Internal Communications Specialist II

<div><div>UPMC Mercy is hiring a Full Time General Maintenance Apprentice to support our facility!
This position works from 7am-3pm with varied days.
This position starts at 60% of Journeyman rate with scheduled pay increases every 6 months. Pay increases are awarded based on performance and training criteria. This is a Union position.
Preferred candidates will be able to lift/push/pull objects weighing 50 pounds on average and able to perform work within confined spaces.
Purpose: 
The General Maintenance Apprentice will learn safe operation and maintenance of HVAC systems, heat exchangers, direct digital control, pneumatic controls, ice machines, building automation system (BAS), Fire Protection Systems, Nurse Call and Pneumatic Tube Systems, Steam, Chilled Water and associated systems and equipment. The GM Apprentice must enroll, and successfully complete an Accredited Apprentice Trade program within 48 months from hiring date. 
 
Responsibilities: 
<ul><li>Maintain clean and safe work area, equipment rooms and shop area.
</li><li>Record personal work orders and submit hours daily.
</li><li>Perform all work following infection control procedures.
</li><li>Under supervision of a journeyman technician, check all mechanical equipment for efficient, safe operation.
</li><li>Under supervision of an engineer or refrigeration staff, inspect all air conditioning, refrigeration, and ventilation equipment to identify possible deficiencies and/or malfunctions.
</li><li>Oil and grease all parts of equipment
</li><li>Under supervision, check water supply for chemical treatment levels.
</li><li>Under supervision, add proper chemicals to the desired requirements.
</li><li>Under supervision of a journeyman technician, check meters, gauges, signals lights and other warning devices for possible problems and make necessary corrections.
