<div><div>Child Development Specialist for Early Intervention: Blair, Centre and Bedford area 
Plans and implements all activities related to Special Instruction and Family Training services focused on child development. Documentation for in home sessions, collaborate with our experience team of specialists. This will be done in a manner consistent with efficiency, cost effectiveness, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities: 
<ul><li>Demonstrates and teaches activities to the parents or caregiver to incorporate into typical family routines and play.</li><li>
Evaluates enrolled children on an annual basis and reports results to Multi-disciplinary Team to determine continued eligibility for service.</li><li>
Endeavors to achieve and maintain quality and customer satisfaction in the delivery of services to internal/external customers.</li><li>
Completes and submits all required documentation (i.e. service plan, quaterly/6 month/ annual review, contact logs progress reports, etc.) within the timeframes dictated by regulations, county/Agency processes and best practices.</li><li>
Responds to families needs for special services and refers to Service Coordinator when appropriate.</li><li>
Promotes teamwork through positive and productive communication with all EI team members.</li><li>
Represents and participates in Agency professional and community activities as requested.</li><li>
Demonstrates support of Agency mission and philosophy in delivery of services.</li><li>
Collaborates with families during Individual Family Service Plan team meeting to develop effective plan for achieving outcomes desired by family.</li><li>
Intervention services, three months prior to the third birthday, for the purpose of transition into school system.</li><li>
Maintains and protects customer, staff and Agency confidentiality.</li><li>
Actively seeks and supports family input into design of Individual Family Service</li><li>
Designs activities for each child which are specifically intended to promote each area of development that has been identified as an intervention area.</li><li>
Evaluates the effectiveness of the developmental plan and makes revisions based on child/families response and professional judgment.</li><li>
Participates in the development of and adherence to EI departmental policies and procedures related to Early Intervention.</li><li>
Plans and schedules home visits to meet needs of the families in cooperation with Director and adheres to the schedule as determined.</li><li>
Handles emergencies or program concerns and reports the incident to the Director as soon as possible.</li><li>
Obtains and submits documentation for pre-service, mandatory annual 24 hours of early intervention continuing education, and mandatory HNA trainings (i.e. Child CPR, First Aid techniques, fire safety, emergency evacuation, infection control, orientation to the EI system, cultural competence, mandatory reporting, mediation, procedural safeguards, etc).</li><li>
Collaborates with agencies involved with the family (educational, social services, consultants, etc.) to provide maximum effort toward a comprehensive delivery of service.</li><li>
Meets or exceeds EI productivity standards as well as adheres to other budget standards related to expense and revenue.</li><li>
Plan strategies and activities.</li><li>
Consults with therapist(s) and other team members on individual child-related activities to assure consistent delivery of service.</li><li>
Ensures staff and customer safety by resolving and/or reporting all safety issues and injuries to the Director.</li><li>
Collaborates with the family to develop a description of their child and their Early</li></ul></div><div><ul><li>
Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Child Development or related field.
</li><li>Teaching Certificate I preferred.</li><li>
Prior experience working with children is preferred.
</li><li>Competency in computer skills in a Windows based environment. Demonstrate ability to perform computer skills in specialized computer application(s) as needed.</li><li>
Access to transportation in the Agency service area with valid Pennsylvania driver's license and auto liability insurance. 
 
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: 
Child CPR required.

Child Development Specialist Early Intervention

 Purpose:
 
 
 
 Do you have clinical care experience? Are you an RN looking to grow your career? UPMC is hiring a full-time Authorization Nurse. This position works Monday through Friday, as well as rotating weekends (typically 1 every 5-6 weeks) and holidays (usually 1 per year), during daylight hours. Additionally, this position is eligible to work from home.
 
 
 The Authorization Nurse provides support to appropriate UPMC departments and healthcare providers by obtaining referrals and/or authorizations for any acute admissions, hospital services, and treatments. The employee uses their knowledge of acute care experience and payer regulations to assess medical necessity and ensure the presences of supporting documentation to obtain authorization. Additionally, they communicate pertinent clinical information to Physicians, Medical Directors or CFO.

 Responsibilities:
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Serve as a liaison between care managers and payors and facilitate payor/physician contact when indicated.
 </li>
 <li>
 Communicate to the Medical Directors, Attending Physicians and/or CFO, if indicated, regarding evaluation of medical appropriateness.
 </li>
 <li>
 Act as a resource to other departments, as well as the care managers, leveraging clinical expertise relative to the authorization process.
 </li>
 <li>
 Collaborate with other departments to ensure all information/documentation is obtained to support authorization, level of care and/or medical appropriateness.
 </li>
 <li>
 Ensure clinical review process is followed in order to meet payor deadlines.
 </li>
 <li>
 Report to management on an ongoing basis trends/barriers that could necessitate process improvement from a concurrent standpoint.
 </li>
 <li>
 Assist in determining system-wide care management needs through investigation of authorization process and identification of root cause.
 </li>
 <li>
 Identify and assign a root cause to each case to ensure denial reasons are tracked.
 </li>
 <li>
 Monitor and evaluate for area of process improvement related to the payor specific authorization process.
 </li>
 <li>
 Maintain current knowledge of regulatory guidelines related to authorizations.
 </li>
 <li>
 Perform clinical review for cases referred for cases requiring authorization or adherence to payor medical policies.
 </li>
 <li>
 Maintain collaborative relationships with utilization management and departments at payor organizations.
 </li>
 <li>
 Provide ongoing education/feedback to care managers and other departments as related to the payor specific authorization process.
 </li>
 <li>
 RN required; BSN or Bachelors degree preferred.
 </li>
 <li>
 Licensed in practicing state.
 </li>
 <li>
 5 years of acute care clinical experience, 2 years payer or care management experience.
 </li>
 <li>
 Understanding of clinical and care management process.
 </li>
 <li>
 Knowledge of medical necessity criteria (InterQual).
 </li>
 <li>
 Ability to apply InterQual criteria appropriately.
 </li>
 <li>
 Prior utilization review experience.
 </li>
 <li>
 Knowledge of payer reimbursement structure.
 </li>
 <li>
 Excellent customer service skills.
 </li>
 <li>
 Negotiation skills for obtaining appropriate level of care.
 </li>
 <li>
 Critical thinking/assessment skills.
 </li>
 <li>
 Self-motivation/autonomy.
 </li>
 <li>
 Organization/time management and prioritization skills.
 </li>
 <li>
 Proficient in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
 </li>
 <li>
 Experience working with databases preferred.

 Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
