POSITION SUMMARY: 
This position provides direct supervision of a group of children in licensed Before and Afterschool Enrichment or Early Learning program. Assistant Teachers create positive, nurturing relationships with children, while building cooperative relationships with parents/caregivers. Promotes and supports the potential of all youth in programs and facilitates peer-to-peer connections as part of the overall child experience.

Education

POSITION SUMMARY: 
The Lead Teacher is responsible for administering child care programs at designated YMCA program sites. This responsibility includes creating and implementing lesson plans, maintaining site records, and additional program responsibilities to ensure state licensure compliance and overall effective program management. This position may be required to travel to and from branch locations for assigned duties, trainings, or meetings, or work programs in other areas as needed. General Function: 
Under the supervision of the Director of Finance and in alignment with the mission and goals of the YMCA, the Finance Operations Specialist oversees critical financial operations with a primary focus on accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliation, vendor management, and financial reporting. This role ensures integrity, accuracy, and compliance of the Association’s financial systems.
 
Qualifications: 
1. Bachelor’s degree preferred or 2 years’ experience supporting Accounts Payable/Receivable, bank reconciliations and financial close processes.
 2. Must be detail-oriented and possess a strong knowledge of business practices.
 3. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
 4. Must be able to quickly master proprietary software (e.g., point of sale, purchasing card administration, fundraising, and accounting software).
 5. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
 6. Must be organized and possess high attention to detail.
 7. Must demonstrate leadership and the ability to work well with others.
 8. Must be able to work independently, set priorities, and manage multiple concurrent tasks.
 9. Certification in CPR/First Aid/AED/O2 required within 60 days of hire.

Essential Functions: 
1. Support the mission, vision, and goals of the YMCA.

 5. Prepare monthly journal entries to include regular import of revenue, payroll, and purchasing card transactions into accounting software.
 6. Prepare monthly reconciliations of financial institution accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
 7. Monitor daily operating bank account activity.
 8. Responsible for Association 1099 Filing.
 9. Supervise and lead the Accounts Payable staff to ensure the accurate and timely processing of Association payables, including purchasing card transactions and check requests.
 10. Supervise and lead the Accounts Receivable staff to ensure accurate and timely processing, tracking, collection and reporting of all outstanding receivables.
 11. Assist in the preparation of work papers for annual audit and other miscellaneous projects.
 12. Participate as part of the finance team in supporting the Finance functions at the Center level.
 13. Assist the VP of Finance/Controller and Director of Finance in conducting accounting software implementation and training.
 14. Fulfill all other related duties as assigned.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:<ul><li>Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Center and Center Director.</li><li>Serve as the first point of contact by greeting parents, visitors, and staff in a professional and welcoming manner.</li><li>Monitor and screen all visitors, ensuring adherence to building security and sign-in policies.</li><li>Manage and oversee daily check-in and check-out procedures.</li><li>Communicate with parents regarding facility information, policies, and enrollment procedures; conduct tours for prospective families as requested.</li><li>Answer, screen, and direct incoming phone calls; respond to general inquiries in a timely and courteous manner.</li><li>Prepare and distribute correspondence, including memos, letters, forms, and other communications.</li><li>Process enrollments and accurately collect and record parent payments in the designated system (Active).</li><li>Maintain and update children&rsquo;s files to ensure compliance with OCFS requirements; communicate with families regarding required documentation and updates.</li><li>Maintain current records of teacher availability and coordinate classroom coverage as needed.</li><li>Support compliance with OCFS regulations and Association policies across all program operations, including maintenance, emergency procedures, incident reporting, purchasing, personnel, and accounting systems.</li><li>Assist with the administration of medication in accordance with OCFS regulations.</li><li>Maintain all required certifications and credentials.</li><li>Attend required meetings and professional development trainings.</li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.</li></ul>
Requirements:
<ul><li>Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED; associate&rsquo;s degree or higher preferred.</li><li>Minimum of one (1) year of administrative and customer service experience required; experience in a childcare or youth-serving environment preferred.</li><li>Highly organized, professional, and enthusiastic self-starter with strong administrative and time-management skills.</li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong proofreading skills and attention to detail.</li><li>Proven ability to prioritize workload, manage multiple deadlines, problem-solve effectively, and ensure follow-through on assignments.</li><li>Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with staff, families, and community partners.</li><li>Proficient in Microsoft Office and other standard office software; experience with childcare management software and database systems preferred.</li><li>CPR/AED, First Aid, and Medication Administration certification required or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.</li><li>Demonstrates commitment to the YMCA&rsquo;s mission and values, maintaining professionalism, accountability, and a focus on continuous improvement</li></ul>
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:<ul><li>Must be able to stand for the duration of the shift</li><li>Must be able to bend and stoop occasionally</li><li>Must be able to lift 45 pounds occasionally</li><li>Ability to supervise children by sight at all times.</li><li>Ability to move quickly to react to safety issues in the setting (i.e. aggressive behavior).</li><li>Ability to move around the classroom to assist children and supervise children with daily activities, social interaction, physical and emotional needs.</li><li>Ability to move from space to space, and is required to enter all YMCA environments including, program space, buses, schools, pools, and program area.</li></ul></div>
