A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ASSISTANT TEACHER
As an Assistant Teacher at one of our childcare locations, you assist the child care program director in ensuring a positive and enriching experience for all children involved. Always alert, you provide proper supervision and discipline for the children as you &quot;see, hear, direct, and assess.&quot; You are careful to act as a role model for the children at all times!
You are friendly and patient as you assist with the enrollment of new children and facilitate the onboarding of each child and his/her parents into the Y Program. As a key liaison between children, their parents, and the Child Care Program Director, you keep this good rapport going as you communicate with parents on a daily basis. Parents feel good about leaving their children in your loving and capable hands.
With enthusiasm, you help implement lesson plans based on child development principles and keep the classroom clean and in order. You are also conscientious about keeping classroom records up to date and accurate and ensuring compliance with YMCA standards and government regulations. As someone who loves your job, you happily attend and participate in all family events and program activities. 
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A PART-TIME ASSISTANT TEACHER<ul><li>
At least 18 years of age</li><li>
High school diploma or equivalent</li><li>
Currently enrolled in Secondary Education or 2500 hours of documented experience (i.e. Babysitting, Etc)</li><li>
Ability to pass a background check</li><li>
Ability to pass a physical</li><li>
Negative TB test</li><li>
Must enroll in a CDA (child development associate) training program within the first year of employment if not already attending or having completed secondary education)</li><li>
Love for children</li></ul>

Camp Counselor - Seasonal

Qualified applicants must be 18 or older, dependable, energetic, positive and patient. This is a licensed childcare program, working with 8 Two year olds. You must pass a background check, fingerprinting, physical and drug test, all of which are paid for by the Y.You will be required to pass CPR/First aid, and complete 12 online training hours per year.This part time position is for 1:00 pm - 5:30 pm Monday - Friday.This position will be in a classroom with up to 8 two year olds and include:<ul><li>supervising, engaging and interacting with children</li><li>providing ongoing communication with the families</li><li>maintain a clean, safe, organized classroom</li><li>complete neccessary paperwork for the food program and licensing</li><li>be a team player</li><li>have consistent attendance- be on time and keep absences to a minimum</li></ul>Job Type: Part-timePay: From $15.00 per hourWork Location: In person

</div><div><ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in closely related field (Social Work, Secondary Education or Counseling)
</li><li>Experience in teaching and reinforcing life skills and assistance with community linkages for development of natural supports
</li><li>The ability to work professionally with others, as well as autonomously
</li><li>Minimum of two years of experience working with youth.
</li><li>Excellent interpersonal communication and writing skills, well-organized, the ability to manage your time effectively, and operate business computer applications at an intermediate level (Microsoft Word, Excel, Business Email Systems, etc.)
</li><li>Must have and maintain a clean CT Driver&rsquo;s License, current state registration and be the policy holder of full auto insurance coverage

</li><li>Be knowledgeable of community resources and provide information and assistance with community linkages for development of natural supports
</li><li>Assist clients with finding and enrolling in suitable secondary education and obtaining financial aid
</li><li>Monitor educational status including attendance and grades
</li><li>Assist clients with preparing a resume and job searches
</li><li>Assist new clients and those wishing to move with locating and maintaining housing
</li><li>Maintain knowledge about program guidelines and DCF policies and procedures
