Contracts Specialist – Construction / Contracting

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Contracts Specialist with strong experience in the construction and contracting industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the complete contract lifecycle, including contract review, administration, claims management, variations, and dispute resolution support. The role requires strong commercial awareness, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to minimize contractual risks while maximizing project value.
Key ResponsibilitiesContract Review & Administration
- Review client contracts, subcontracts, purchase agreements, and supplier contracts to ensure compliance with company policies and project requirements
- Identify contractual risks, obligations, liabilities, and key deliverables
- Provide contractual interpretation and guidance to project, commercial, and procurement teams
- Maintain organized contract documentation, correspondence, and records
- Ensure timely contract execution, renewals, amendments, and close-out procedures
Tendering & Pre-Contract Support
- Review tender documents, technical specifications, BOQs, and commercial conditions
- Identify commercial and contractual risks during tender evaluation stages
- Support preparation of tender clarifications, qualifications, and contractual deviations
- Coordinate with estimation, procurement, and technical departments during bid submissions
Variations & Change Management
- Manage variation orders (VOs), claims, and change requests throughout project execution
- Evaluate the commercial and schedule impact of project changes
- Prepare supporting documentation for variation submissions and approvals
- Liaise with consultants and clients to secure approvals and resolve variation-related matters
Claims Management
- Prepare, review, and evaluate claims related to delays, disruptions, prolongation costs, and additional works
- Draft Extension of Time (EOT) submissions with proper contractual justification and supporting records
- Maintain detailed project documentation to support claims and contractual notices
- Coordinate with planning, project management, and commercial teams for claim substantiation
Contract Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure project activities comply with contractual obligations, terms, and conditions
- Monitor contractor, subcontractor, and supplier performance against contract requirements
- Identify potential contractual disputes and proactively recommend mitigation strategies
- Support commercial risk assessments and contract compliance monitoring
Dispute Resolution Support
- Assist in resolving contractual disputes, commercial disagreements, and project claims
- Support arbitration, mediation, negotiation, and settlement processes when required
- Coordinate with legal advisors and management on dispute-related matters
Stakeholder Coordination
- Work closely with Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors, Procurement, Planning, and Legal teams
- Serve as a key point of contact for contractual and commercial matters across projects
- Provide regular updates and reports to senior management regarding contractual risks and claim status
RequirementsEducation
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field
Experience
- 5–8 years of experience in contracts management within a construction or contracting company
- Strong experience handling FIDIC-based contracts and commercial documentation
- Proven track record in claims preparation, EOT submissions, and variation management
- Experience in UAE or GCC construction projects is highly preferred
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of contract law, commercial terms, and construction contracts
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills
- High attention to detail with strong problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders effectively
- Proficiency in MS Office and contract management/document control systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in Contracts Management, Claims Management, or FIDIC Contracts
- Familiarity with arbitration, dispute resolution, and legal coordination processes
- Strong commercial and contractual awareness within construction environments
