Join our dynamic culinary team as a Lead Line Cook and bring your passion for exceptional food and vibrant kitchen leadership to the forefront! Black Radish is looking to add an experienced team player to our amazing kitchen crew! The position is part-time and the hourly wage starts at $17-$20/hr.

We are looking for dedicated individuals that are comfortable joining a team that is in constant pursuit of perfection and improving themselves everyday. Reliability, positive attitude, consistency, and abilities to work in a team environment are required. All candidates must go through an interview process as well as a paid try-out for the position, no matter how much experience they have. Candidates must have their own chef knife/knives, there are no "house knives" at the restaurant. Line cooks are responsible for prepping ingredients, cooking and assembling dishes, adhering to the restaurant menu, and following food health and safety procedures. As well as maintaining ingredients, products, chemicals, and all aspects of facility sanitation. Applicants should possess proficient knife skills, a proper understanding of how to operate kitchen equipment (i.e. ovens, grills, fryers etc...), as well as a thorough understanding of kitchen sanitary guidelines.

Duties

  • Prepare, cook, and plate dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards
  • Oversee food preparation processes, ensuring consistency, quality, and adherence to food safety regulations
  • Assist in menu planning by providing input on seasonal dishes and ingredient sourcing
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, ensuring compliance with health codes
  • Train new team members on cooking techniques, safety procedures, and restaurant standards
  • Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, placing orders as needed to prevent shortages

Requirements

  • Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, and food service within a restaurant or culinary setting
  • Strong knife skills and proficiency in various cooking techniques
  • Background in dietary department or dietary aide experience is a plus
  • Experience with menu planning, catering, and fine dining environments highly desirable
  • Knowledge of food handling procedures, safety protocols, and sanitation standards
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate a team under pressure
  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment operation and maintenance
  • Prior experience in the food industry or culinary roles demonstrating growth into leadership positions
