Job Summary

Duties

• Assist orthodontists during patient examinations, procedures, and adjustments with precision and professionalism
• Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment in accordance with infection prevention management and aseptic techniques
• Take and develop dental x-rays, including digital imaging and 3D scans, ensuring accuracy and patient comfort
• Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems Open Dental while maintaining strict clinical confidentiality policies
• Educate patients on orthodontic care, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices to promote optimal treatment outcomes
• Monitor vital signs and assist with medical documentation to ensure patient safety during procedures
• Support administrative tasks like scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and coordinating with the dental reception team for seamless clinic operations

Skills

• Place and remove orthodontic separators, bands, brackets, and arch wires (as permitted by state law)
• Change elastics, ligatures and power chains
• Experience with dental sterilization procedures, infection control protocols, and healthcare infection prevention standards
• Remove orthodontics appliances and polish teeth after debonding
• Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, endodontic tools, and prosthodontic devices
• Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients and collaborate with team members like dental receptionists and clinical staff
• Scan patients using intraoral scanners ( such as Itero or Trios)
