Senior Fleet Maintenance Manager (Karachi)

Position:

Senior Fleet Maintenance Manager

Our client, a well-established and rapidly growing food & beverage company, is seeking an experienced and results-oriented Fleet Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance and workshop operations of our fleet of approximately 400 trucks and support vehicles.

This is a senior management position responsible for maximizing fleet availability, ensuring compliance with safety standards, optimizing maintenance costs, and leading a high-performing technical team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A Master's degree or relevant professional certifications will be an added advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum 10–15 years of progressively responsible experience in fleet maintenance and workshop management.
  • At least 5 years in a managerial role overseeing a large commercial fleet.
  • Proven experience managing fleets of 200–400 or more heavy commercial vehicles, including trucks and support vehicles.
  • Experience in FMCG, beverage, logistics, transportation, manufacturing, or distribution industries will be preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and manage all workshop and fleet maintenance activities.
  • Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Ensure maximum fleet availability while minimizing vehicle downtime.
  • Supervise workshop personnel, including engineers, supervisors, mechanics, electricians, and technicians.
  • Monitor vehicle inspections, diagnostics, repairs, overhauls, and quality control.
  • Develop and manage annual maintenance budgets, repair costs, and operating expenses.
  • Analyze maintenance data and KPIs to improve reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Establish inventory control systems for spare parts, lubricants, tools, and workshop equipment.
  • Negotiate and manage relationships with external vendors, suppliers, and service providers.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, environmental, and transport regulations.
  • Implement workshop best practices, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare management reports on fleet performance, maintenance costs, vehicle utilization, and workshop productivity.
  • Support procurement decisions for new vehicles, equipment replacement, and technical evaluations.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the maintenance team through training and performance management.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong technical knowledge of heavy commercial vehicle maintenance and repair.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills.
  • Expertise in preventive maintenance planning and asset management.
  • Strong analytical, budgeting, and cost-control capabilities.
  • Knowledge of fleet management systems and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and reporting tools.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
