About Murjan

Murjan is a Saudi travel-tech startup building a digital marketplace for tourism activities and local experiences.

The platform connects travelers with experience providers and enables users to discover, compare, and book activities through a simple and seamless journey.

Murjan has already generated real bookings, revenue, and strong market interest. We are now looking for a hands-on Technical Co-Founder and CTO to join the founding team and lead the development of our technology and product.

About the Role

This is not a traditional employee position. We are looking for a long-term technical partner who wants to build and own part of the company.

As Technical Co-Founder and CTO, you will take ownership of Murjan’s technical strategy, platform architecture, product development, and future engineering team.

You will work directly with the founders to transform the current business into a scalable travel-tech platform.

Key Responsibilities

Define and lead Murjan’s technical strategy and product roadmap.

Take ownership of the platform’s architecture and development.

Review the existing product, codebase, infrastructure, and technical vendors.

Build and improve the customer, service-provider, and admin platforms.

Lead integrations with payment gateways, WhatsApp, booking systems, notifications, and AI tools.

Ensure the platform is scalable, secure, reliable, and easy to maintain.

Recruit and manage developers as the company grows.

Translate business requirements into clear technical solutions.

Participate in product, business, and fundraising decisions as a founding team member.

Required Qualifications

Strong hands-on experience in full-stack software development.

Experience building web platforms, marketplaces, SaaS products, or mobile applications.

Good understanding of backend systems, APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure, and system architecture.

Ability to review code and manage external developers or software agencies.

Strong product mindset and ability to build practical solutions with limited startup resources.

Comfortable working in a fast-moving, early-stage startup.

Strong communication skills in Arabic and English.

Currently based in Egypt and able to work remotely with a Saudi founding team.

Preferred Experience

Previous experience in a startup or as an early-stage technical team member.

Experience with marketplaces, travel technology, booking systems, or e-commerce.

Experience with payment integrations and automated provider payouts.

Experience developing mobile applications using cross-platform technologies.

Familiarity with AI integrations, recommendation engines, and WhatsApp APIs.

Experience managing or mentoring developers.

Compensation

This opportunity is currently offered through a meaningful equity stake in Murjan instead of a fixed salary.

The equity percentage, vesting schedule, responsibilities, and co-founder agreement will be discussed with shortlisted candidates based on experience, commitment, and expected contribution.

A salary may be introduced later based on funding and company growth.
