About the Opportunity

We are seeking detail-oriented Technical Content Editors to support a variety of technical publishing and educational projects. This is a flexible, remote contractor position with work assigned on a project-by-project basis.

The primary responsibility is reviewing and editing technical materials for clarity, consistency, grammar, formatting, and accuracy of presentation. Many projects involve engineering-related educational content, including exam preparation questions, solutions, technical explanations, and reference materials containing mathematical equations, calculations, tables, and figures.

While familiarity with engineering or technical subjects is beneficial, an engineering background is not required. We are looking for individuals who excel at editing complex technical documents and are comfortable working with mathematical notation and technical formatting.

Responsibilities

• Review and edit technical documents for grammar, spelling, punctuation, clarity, and consistency.
• Edit engineering-related educational materials, including exam preparation questions, solutions, explanations, and reference content.
• Verify that mathematical expressions, equations, units, symbols, and technical formatting are presented consistently and correctly.
• Identify formatting inconsistencies, typographical errors, ambiguous wording, and editorial issues.
• Ensure documents adhere to project-specific style guides and formatting standards.
• Work with project managers and content developers to resolve editorial questions.
• Maintain confidentiality of proprietary educational content.

Qualifications

• Exceptional written English, proofreading, and editing skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately with complex technical documents.
• Comfortable editing documents containing mathematical equations, formulas, symbols, tables, and figures.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, including equation editing and advanced document formatting.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining a high level of quality.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience editing technical, scientific, engineering, mathematical, or educational content.
• Background in technical writing, copyediting, publishing, or instructional materials.
• Familiarity with engineering, mathematics, science, or other technical disciplines is a plus but not required.
• Experience editing content that includes mathematical notation or technical calculations.

They have a meticulous eye for detail and can ensure documents are polished, consistent, and publication-ready, even when working with highly technical material.
