Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a PCU Float position requiring Epic experience, BLS/ACLS/NIH certifications, and availability to float across MS, MS/Tele, and PCU units on night shift.
Details
- Hospital-based position floating across all Med/Surg, Med/Surg Telemetry, and PCU units within the facility
- Patient population includes adults through geriatrics with all potential MS, MS/Tele, and PCU diagnoses
- Patient ratios: 1:4–5 on PCU; 1:5–6 on MS and MS/Tele units
- Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00)
- Every other weekend required (approximately 6 weekends over a 13-week contract)
- Floating to all MS, MS/Tele, and PCU units is required
- No on-call requirements
- EMR: Epic (required); also uses Pyxis and SBAR communication framework
- 12-week contract
Requirements
- Active GA or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Two supervisory references (manager level or above; charge nurses not accepted) are highly preferred
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted
- Navy blue scrubs required
- RTO maximum is 7 days per contract; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of assignment
- Holiday coverage policy: if one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO permitted; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work two of them and may request one holiday off
- Major holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday (counts as 1), Christmas Eve/Christmas Day (counts as 1), and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day (counts as 1)
- No schedule change requests or alternate shift requests are permitted — the posted shift is firm
- Travelers who have previously worked at any facility within this health system must have been away for a full year before returning as a traveler
