Position Summary</b></h2><p>
The Grounds Person is responsible for maintaining the overall appearance, safety, and cleanliness of the campus grounds at Long Island University. This role ensures outdoor areas are well-kept, functional, and aesthetically pleasing for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.</p><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
Key Responsibilities</b></h2><ul><li>
Maintain lawns, trees, shrubs, flower beds, and landscaped areas</li><li>
Perform mowing, edging, trimming, and pruning</li><li>
Plant, water, fertilize, and care for greenery and seasonal plants</li><li>
Remove leaves, debris, litter, and snow from walkways and grounds</li><li>
Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers, etc.)</li><li>
Assist with irrigation system maintenance and repairs</li><li>
Apply pesticides and fertilizers in accordance with safety regulations</li><li>
Maintain outdoor facilities including sidewalks, parking areas, and athletic fields</li><li>
Support campus events by setting up and breaking down outdoor spaces</li><li>
Identify and report hazards, damages, or maintenance needs</li></ul><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
Qualifications</b></h2><ul><li>
High school diploma or equivalent preferred</li><li>
Prior experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or facilities maintenance is a plus</li><li>
Basic knowledge of horticulture and plant care</li><li>
Ability to operate grounds maintenance equipment safely</li><li>
Valid driver&rsquo;s license (may be required)</li></ul></div>
