<div>About the Role: Counselling Teacher
We are seeking committed and experienced Counselling Teachers to join our Higher Education team at Activate Learning. You will play a vital role in delivering and co-tutoring our Level 2-4 Diplomas in Therapeutic Counselling, helping to shape the professional and personal development of aspiring counsellors.
You will deliver high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment to adult learners undertaking counselling qualifications aligned with BACP ethical standards. You will support learners in developing core competencies, reflective practice, and readiness for placement and professional accreditation.
We have two permanent, part-time contracts available at our Guildford College Campus, teaching on Tuesdays and Thursdays with flexible admin time around these. One would work 16.9 hours per week (0.49 FTE), and the other would work 19.9 hours per week (0.54 FTE) and have additional responsibilities as a programme coordinator.
What do you need to be successful as a Counselling Teacher at Activate Learning?
We are looking for individuals who can serve as role models for our learners, ensuring they graduate with not only professional qualifications but also the skills needed to succeed in the workplace. 
You must have:<ul><li>
A recognised Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (minimum 420 guided learning hours)</li><li>
A degree or master&rsquo;s degree in Counselling or a related field (Master&rsquo;s level preferred)</li><li>
Registered membership of BACP, UKCP, NCS, or an equivalent recognised professional body</li><li>
Completion of at least 10 hours of personal therapy</li><li>
Evidence of ongoing CPD (minimum 30 hours annually)</li><li>
Current supervised counselling practice with a minimum of 6 months&rsquo; post-qualifying experience</li></ul>
Whilst previous teaching experience or qualification would be an advantage, it is not a requirement. As long as you have the qualifications or experience to teach on our Business courses and demonstrate the attributes to be an inspirational teacher, we can provide you with the necessary training, development and support to equip you to teach in the FE sector.
To be suitable for the additional hours and responsibilities as a programme coordinator you should also have a supervision qualification or be willing to work towards this

Reading College is seeking an experienced and dedicated Student Welfare Coordinator to join our Lifeskills team. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in supporting students receiving Additional Learning Support, including those within our 16-19 programmes.
The successful candidate will help ensure student retention, wellbeing, and achievement by providing high-quality pastoral support. You will work closely with learners with High Needs and other care requirements, ensuring appropriate support strategies are in place to enable them to thrive academically and personally.
This role requires a compassionate, proactive professional who can create a safe, inclusive, and non-judgmental environment where students feel confident accessing support.
Key Responsibilities<ul><li>
Provide pastoral and welfare support to students in the Lifeskills Faculty</li><li>
Promote learner retention, achievement, and progression</li><li>
Deliver 1:1 and group wellbeing sessions</li><li>
Support smooth transitions into Lifeskills programmes</li><li>
Work collaboratively with faculty teams and wider College services</li><li>
Contribute to multi-agency support for learners</li><li>
Develop creative strategies to meet diverse learning needs</li><li>
Ensure safeguarding and student welfare at all times</li></ul>
This is afixed-term, full-time role working 37 hours per week during term-time (FTE 0.88) based at our Reading College. This contract ends in July 2027.
What do you need to be successful as a Student Welfare Coordinator at Activate Learning?
A minimum GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above is essential, along with an understanding of the need for a student-centred approach and ability to offer varying support strategies to cover diverse learning needs. Proven experience in a welfare or social care role and safeguarding knowledge/experience. You will have excellent understanding/experience working with a range of learners including: MLD, PMLD and SEMH. You will also have experience of multi-agency working.
