The <b>General Accountant</b> will support the Finance Department by performing a variety of accounting functions, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash and Bank Management, and Reporting. The role requires a solid understanding of IFRS standards, careful review of general ledger transactions, and adherence to sound accounting practices across all financial processes.</p><p></p><p><b>
Responsibilities and Duties:</b></p><div>
<ul><li><b>General Ledger Management and Accounting Operations</b></li></ul>
<div><ul><li>Perform daily accounting activities to maintain the companys ledger, ensuring accurate posting of transactions.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Support the preparation of monthly management accounts through timely and correct postings.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Investigate and resolve any accounting discrepancies or irregularities.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Follow internal control procedures and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.</li></ul>
</div></div><div><ul><li><b>Reconciliations and Financial Controls</b></li></ul>
<div><ul><li>Complete and review all major account reconciliations (e.g., bank, intercompany, and other balance sheet accounts).</li></ul>
<ul><li>Ensure all balances are fully supported with proper documentation.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Reconcile financial discrepancies and maintain the integrity of financial records.</li></ul>
</div></div><div><ul><li><b>Accounts Payable (A/P)</b></li></ul>
<div><ul><li>Verify and process supplier invoices promptly.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Prepare payments (cheques, transfers, or other methods) in a timely and accurate manner.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Reconcile accounts payable and address supplier inquiries efficiently.</li></ul>
</div></div><div><ul><li><b>Accounts Receivable (A/R)</b></li></ul>
<div><ul><li>Verify and process customer invoices in a timely manner.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Post customer payments (cash, cheque, transfers) accurately into the accounting system.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Maintain and distribute accurate records of outstanding receivables and overdue accounts.</li></ul>
</div></div><div><ul><li><b>Inventory and Intercompany Reconciliation</b></li></ul>
<div><ul><li>Assist with accurate inventory management and maintain error-free records to prevent valuation discrepancies.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Reconcile intercompany transactions monthly to ensure consistency and accuracy across entities</li></ul>
</div></div><div><ul><li><b>Fixed Asset Register</b></li></ul>
<div><ul><li>Record acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation of tangible and intangible fixed assets.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Maintain an up-to-date and accurate fixed asset register.</li></ul>
</div></div><p><b>1. Financial Reporting and Compliance</b></p><div>
<div><ul><li>Assist in the preparation of the companys Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss Statement, and Cash Flow Statements.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Support the annual budget preparation and quarterly forecast processes.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Prepare and submit VAT returns in compliance with UAE FTA regulations.</li></ul>
</div></div><div><ul><li><b>Audit and Certification Support</b></li></ul>
<div><ul><li>Assist in the timely and accurate year-end audit process.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Prepare audit schedules and provide necessary documentation for external auditors.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Support the management of corporate certification requirements, including ICV compliance and credit rating documentation.</li></ul>
</div></div><div><ul><li><b>Collaboration and Process Improvement</b></li></ul>
<div><ul><li>Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and data flow.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Support the Senior/Chief Accountant in identifying and implementing workflow and process improvements.</li></ul>
</div></div><div><ul><li><b>Budget Monitoring and Financial Analysis</b></li></ul>
<div><ul><li>Monitor actual vs. budgeted performance and assist in taking corrective actions where necessary.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Provide insights and support to maintain financial targets.</li></ul>
</div></div><div><ul><li><b>Confidentiality and Ethical Standards</b></li></ul>
<div><ul><li>Maintain strict confidentiality of customer, supplier, and company information at all times.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Uphold high standards of honesty, integrity, and professional conduct.</li></ul>
</div></div><p><b>Qualifications:</b></p><p>
Degree in Commerce or Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and/or Finance (B Com / M Com / BBA), or similar</p><p>
Preference for additional academic certifications, such as CMA / ACCA / CFA / CPA / Inter CA</p><p><b>
Years of Experience:</b></p><p>
Minimum of 5-6 years experience in general accounting, preferably in manufacturing and/or the contracting industries.</p></div><p></p>
