The FSQA Technician will be responsible for ensuring plant sanitary conditions, and that raw and in-process materials and finished products meet established food safety and quality standards. Responsible for HACCP verification activities. Responsibilities will include making decisions to accept or reject area, equipment, products or materials when deemed insanitary, possibly contaminated, or if the product is determined to be out of Ajinomoto Foods North America, Inc. (AFNA) specifications. When any deficiency in requirements occurs, it is the responsibility of the Food Safety &amp; Quality Assurance (FSQA) Technician to take appropriate action and inform the appropriate personnel.</div>
Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Verifies conformance to FSQA and Safe Quality Foods (SQF) requirements in daily production operations.</li><li>
Checks, inspects and investigates to ensure that GMP&rsquo;s are followed, that sanitary conditions prevail, and that raw and in-process materials and finished products meet company and/or government standards as required.</li><li>
Takes control action (i.e. Hold) when ingredients, product or the manufacturing environment are not within expected specification or standards.</li><li>
Keeps accurate and complete records.</li><li>
Conducts plant testing as required. This may include testing machinery and equipment, temperature and process controls, new products, new raw materials, assisting in new product development, conducting supply and ingredient studies, etc.</li><li>
Audit facility product weight control program as required.</li><li>
Assists in root cause analysis of problems. Recommend solutions and preventive measures in areas involving product quality, raw materials, and sanitation controls.</li><li>
Checks operating procedures and institutes changes coming from new product requirements, equipment changes, line speed requirements, raw material variations, etc.</li><li>
Assists in developing and applying quality controls and related procedures in plant operations.</li><li>
Indirect responsibility for quality and food safety costs and financial benefits to AFNA through compliance to specifications.</li></ul>
Position Qualifications:
<ul><li>A High School Diploma or its equivalent is desirable. Meaningful education and experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.</li><li>
Must have keen ability to analyze problems encountered and to make reasonable decisions based on facts/data, procedures, specifications, and experience.</li><li>
Good organizational, mathematical, and recordkeeping skills. Ability to conscientiously monitor aspects of incoming materials, product production, storage and distribution operations, and ensure that established material specifications, product production, product quality controls and sanitary standards are met.</li></ul><div><br>
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</div><div></div><div><br>
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand, reach, bend, and move about the work environment, plants, or offices. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms, climb, or balance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Lifting requirements are up to 75 lbs. Exposure to loud industrial-type environments is commonly found in plants. Varied temperatures from hot and humid to very cold.</div><div></div><div><br>

FSQA Technician - 1st Shift

<div><div>This position will perform general maintenance of equipment in a fermentation manufacturing environment.</div><div><b><br>
Safety, Environmental, &amp; Quality Compliance</b></div><ul><li>
Utilize safe work habits and follow all policies and procedures</li><li>
Make sound decisions while not compromising safety, environmental or quality standards</li><li>
Assist with audits as required Turn in any hazards as they are identified to get them corrected as soon as possible</li><li>
Attend regularly scheduled training sessions to stay current on all compliance initiatives</li><li>
Ensure compliance with all governmental regulations and policies</li></ul><div><b>
Maintenance Duties</b></div><ul><li>
Changing drive belts, pump mechanical seals, oils, filters, greases, bearings, rotors</li><li>
Rebuilding pumps, frames, structures, doors</li><li>
Repairs of conveyor belts, pipe leaks, fork trucks, manlifts</li><li>
Some minor welding of frames, stands, handrail, etc.</li><li>
Report daily tasks/accomplishments back to the Maintenance Supervisor/leadership</li><li>
Learns equipment details such that general maintenance work can be completed efficiently and successfully</li><li>
Will conduct minor troubleshooting, individual equipment coordination for stop/starts with production</li><li>
Assists in the preparation of Work Instructions/Standard Operating Procedures</li><li>
Occasionally will be working with contractors and will provide guidance for the current task</li><li>
Be available for contact during off hours (evenings, nights, weekends, holidays) for communications of troubleshooting, adjustments, and occasional reporting to work for corrections</li></ul><div><b>
Continuous Improvement &amp; Collaboration</b></div><ul><li>
Suggest/implement process improvement, cost down, or best practice ideas</li><li>
Continually strive for increasing processing efficiencies</li><li>
Complete 5S activities to keep the work area clean and organized</li></ul><div><br>
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE:</div><ul><li>High School diploma or GED required</li><li>5+ years of trade experience in a similar industry is preferred</li></ul><div></div><div><br>
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:</div><ul><li>Excellent oral, written, and computer communication skills</li><li>Ability to interpret technical drawings</li><li>Strong mechanical aptitude and background</li><li>Design/drawing/manual experience for troubleshooting</li><li>Multi-trade skills like welding, pipefitting, pump repairs, compressor work, boilers, etc.</li><li>Must be self-motivated, strive for success, work in and with the maintenance/production teams, stay on task with limited supervision</li><li>Ability to remain flexible in work scheduling knowing that occasionally break times and/or start and stop times may need adjusted in order to finish up a project safely and completely</li></ul></div>
